William W. Harris

William Wayne Harris (Gator) of Magnolia, DE went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 23 2015, surrounded by his family at Bay Health Hospital in Dover, Delaware. He was 64 years old. William was born June 4, 1950 in Willow Grove, Delaware to Ruth Burris and the late Elwood Burris. He attended the following schools: Star Hill School, Booker T. Washington, and William Henry High School. William was employed at Stover's Construction Company and at the James Williams Building in Dover, DE and he loved to work on cars. He loved to ride, fix and race them too until his illness. William loved to watch the wrestling matches with his mother and don't leave out the soaps. He enjoyed the family get togethers when everyone came home. He would try to laugh and kid around and talk about old times. William accepted the Lord in his life and enjoyed playing his gospel music and praying. He would say, “I've got my faith in God, and not in man.” He was a fighter to have made it this far, only by the Grace of God. Nobody could laugh like William. His laugh was special. He struggled with his health for a long time, and often would say, “I'm taking it one day at a time." William was preceded in death by his sister, Catherine Harris (Cap) and his brother, Terry Harris. He leaves to cherish his memory, his mother, Ruth Burris of Magnolia, Delaware; his daughter, Joy Harris; two grandchildren, LaTioa Sudler and Montel Sudler; three great-grandchildren, Jayda, Jayden and Jaylen Sudler; seven brothers and four sisters, Samuel (Brenda) Harris of Milford, DE, James, Sr. (Mary) Harris of Star Hill, DE, Lawrence (Angie) Harris of Dover, DE, Emory Harris of Woodside, DE, Carlton Harris of Cheswold, DE, Preston Burris of Star Hill, DE and Douglas Burris of Magnolia, DE, Lena King of Felton, DE, Evelyn Tolson of Woodside, DE, Lydia (Willis) Sherrod of Willow Grove, DE and Phyllis (William) Dearinge of Magnolia, DE; five aunts; two uncles; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends and a very devoted caregiver, his CNA, Michele Thomas.
