William Marshall Berry

William Marshall Berry, was born on March 16, 1944, to the late John Wellington Goldsborough and Carmeta Hollis Goldsborough. He departed this life on April 30, 2020, at the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, Maryland. He was 76 years old. Billy, as he was affectionately known, graduated from Garnett High School, located in Chestertown, Maryland. After high school, he began working at Bramble’s Construction Company. He continued his employment at Washington College, as the Head Cook. In the late 1990’s, he worked for Kent County Public Schools, for over 30 years, until his retirement. Billy loved sports. He was a fan of the Oakland Raiders and the Baltimore Orioles. You could often find him reading a good book, watching westerns on television, WWE and the Soap Operas. He often said that his greatest achievement in life was becoming a grandfather. Billy was preceded in death by his beautiful and devoted wife of 50 years, Sylvia Ann Berry; two sisters, Cheryl Black and Helen Goldsborough; one grandson, Tyrone Cornish, Jr., and one great-grandson, Lalan Rush. Billy leaves to cherish his memory, three sons, Michael (Mesha) of Odenton, MD, Mark, Sr. (Terri), and James (Brenda) both of Chestertown, MD; two daughters, Melissa of Chestertown, MD and Angeline (Grace) of Richmond, VA; 14 grandchildren, Mark, Jr., Brittany, Malcolm, Matthew, Khori, Henrietta, Ashleigh, Tavonte, Jayla, Nasir, Noah, Cianna, Aubrey and Dexter, III; one goddaughter, Sherry Munson; three sisters, Maxine Griffin of Philadelphia, PA; Bridget Goldsborough and Lenora Simms both of Chestertown, MD; two brothers, Morris Goldsborough (Maxine) of Chestertown, MD and Thomas Goldsborough Sr., (Victoria) of Easton, MD; five sisters-in-law, Rebecca Demby (Bernard) of Chestertown, MD, Veronica Reynolds of Randallstown, MD, Margo Chatt, Janey Barrett and Geraldine Munson all of Chestertown, MD; two special honorary sons, Darryl Deaton and Arlington Phillips both of Chestertown, MD; one honorary daughter, Angela Norfleet; four honorary grandchildren, Darryl Dorsey, Niara Wilson, Amber Cooper and James Goldsborough; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
