Victoria Denise Doane (Gillette)

Victoria Denise Doane, born on July 30, 1956, passed from earth to glory on Sunday, July 22, 2018. She was the daughter of Frank H. Gillette, Sr. and the late Rosemary Holbrook Gillette. She was affectionately called Vickie, Mom, Momma Vick, Ms. Vickie and Aunt Vickie. Vickie was educated in the public schools of Worcester County, Maryland, graduating with the Class of 1974 at Pocomoke High School. She furthered her education with The Washington School of Secretaries in Washington, D.C. She also earned a certificate in Industrial Cooking under the teaching of Ruby Waters at Worcester County Vocational School. Her Christian upbringing began at a very early age at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church in Pocomoke City, Maryland, where she was a member of the MYF and the CDF. Vickie would often jump in and help with the serving at any event. She was her own little missionary. Vickie would visit nursing homes or patients at the hospital, whether she knew them personally or not. All someone had to say is my relative is in the hospital or at a nursing home and she was there. Her door was always open to her sons’ friends, whether her sons were home or not. Vickie worked at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission in Washington, D.C. and later returned to the shore and worked at Pocomoke High School for a short term. Later, she worked for Tri-State General Insurance, which is now Risk Placement Specialist (RPS), whom she called her second family. Vickie was very loyal and loved her work family. She was a member of Women's Insurance Association. She was a very loving, sensitive person. Vickie was known for her quick wit. She’d crack on you and it would take a minute before you figured out she was talking to you. She also was a former member of the American Legion Post #132. Vickie leaves to cherish precious memories: two sons, Landon M. Doane (Maria) of Parkville, Maryland and Brian A. Robinson of Princess Anne, Maryland; her father, Frank H. Gillette, Sr. of Pocomoke, Maryland; siblings, Cynthia Trader of Pocomoke City, Maryland, Frank Gillette, Jr. (Christine) of Newark, Delaware, Veronica Gillette (her twin) of Pocomoke, Maryland and Jessie Gillette (Vanessa) of Woodbridge, Virginia; one brother-in-law, Rodney Cooper of Pocomoke, Maryland; one uncle, Mathews Gillette (Daisy) of Los Angeles, California; two aunts, Florence Holbrook of Mount Vernon, Maryland and Marguerite Gillette of Chester, Pennsylvania; a special friend, Renee White; Muriel Robinson who was always there to support her and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends. She was preceded in death by her mother, Rosemary H. Gillette and her sister, Stephanie V. Cooper. Vickie was an extraordinary mother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend, who was loved so dearly and will be missed greatly. Her soul is anchored in the Lord.
