Tempest Harris Keyvana Baines

Our beloved Tempest Keyvana Harris-Baines transitioned on November 21, 2020, at the age of 29, in Newark, Delaware. Tempest was born April 23, 1991, in the Bronx, NY, to Denise Harris and Larry Williams. She attended high school at University Heights Secondary School and later attended the University of New Haven to pursue her strong interest in the criminal justice system. While in school, Tempest brought a blessing into this world through her son, Korey. She was an unwavering, go-getter who accomplished anything she set her mind to and never grow weary of learning new things. Tempest would ultimately graduate from CUNY John Jay with a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice. Tempest & Brian eloped in 2015 settling in Wilmington, Delaware. It was there that she was employed by the Department of Homeland Security. Tempest made a shift in her career to become a telecommunications specialist. Tempest-just the thought of her name itself makes you smile, because you knew there was only one Tempest. The name is unique, but it pales in comparison to her charismatic attitude that brought everything to life. If ever you tried to escape the thought of her, you couldn't because she was simply unforgettable. Tempest was a selfless, resilient, and devoted mother, wife, daughter and friend. She instilled greatness, not only in herself, but in her family as well. It was the simplest things that brought joy and happiness to her life. She could never spend enough time with her family. She enjoyed laughing and had a contagious smile with deep dimples that would light up any room; an energy that had pure grace and compassion and a wit on life that was felt by her actions. She was admired by her one and only son and there was nothing she would not do for him. Tempest loved reading, shopping, bowling, cooking and eating mostly. She also loved spending time with her son Korey, husband Brian, friends and family. Tempest was preceded in death by her grandmother Alberta Harris and uncles, Reginald Harris and Gary Rowe. Tempest’s beautiful life will be forever cherished in the lives and hearts of her son Korey; husband of five years, Brian Baines; mother, Denise Harris; four sisters, Tiffany Harris, Brittany, Michelle and Diamond; three brothers, Jamani, Keyuana and Keenan; two nieces, Amiyah and Peyton; 12 cousins, Ebony, Zhakiya, Corey, Ashley, Latoya, Tasheena, Clarissa, Krystal, Alexis, Joshua, Elijah and Gary Rowe, Jr; four aunts, Cynthia, Patricia, Kimberly and Michelle; two uncles, Charles and Dennis; great cousins, Kamari, Jahkim, Zahmiek, Tysean, Miracle, Zuri, Amariah and Tashaia; grandparents, Francis Chaney and Jim Chaney; god sister, Shaquana Martinez; extended family, grandma, Joan Harris, Cheryl Sanchez, Sebrina Singleton, Arlene Harris, Iris Washington, Sarah Miles, Precious, Cassandra, Denzel, Sarah, Jeffrey, Takeisha, Shenoia Harris, Rosalee Fitzgerald, Jonovia Chase, Shanny Torres, Beatrice Rodriguez, Quatiba Davis and Billy Williamson; and close friends, Harriet Holder, Ebony and Nikki Turpin, Emily Altagracia e Bido, Sacha Laidley, Shaniece McClaney and Thasha Brignol.
