Spotwood Jackson, Jr’s. Journey... Spotwood Jackson, Jr., also known as “Sonny”, peacefully transitioned from earth to glory on Wednesday, May 26, 2021. He was born to the late Spotwood Jackson, Sr. and Imogene Jackson on December 26, 1942. Sonny received his formal education from the Wicomico County school system, graduating from Salisbury High School in 1961. He then enlisted into the United States Army, where he served for six years. On November 22, 1969, Sonny married Lois Mae Harmon of Eden, Maryland. Sonny enjoyed fixing things and working with his hands. He was employed by Perdue Farms for thirty-one (31) years in the maintenance department and for twenty (20) years by Mountaire Farms. In his spare time, Sonny enjoyed playing softball and hunting. For thirty (30) years, he also coached the Cadet Yellow Jackets football team at the Salvation Army Boys and Girls Club. In 1971, Sonny joined St. Michaels C.O.G.I.C in Princess Anne, Maryland. He served under the leadership of Elder Porter Deal and Elder Ronald Deal. Spotwood was appointed as Deacon and also served as the YPWW President. A while later he was then ordained as an Elder. He attended the Moody Bible Institute in Dover, Delaware and the International Bible Institute and Seminary of Plymouth, Florida. In 2004, Spotwood began assisting Pastor Julius Chandler at the Solid Rock C.O.G.I.C in Delmar, Delaware. He was later installed as Pastor. Throughout his life, he sang with various groups, as he had a deep love for music and singing. Sonny sang with The “Big Brotheren”, “The Good Samaritans”, The Combined Choir, and “The New Gospel Believers.” He also managed the “Little Brotheren”, and would always stop and treat them to donuts, in the green station wagon. Elder Spotwood Jackson, Jr. was preceded in death by his parents, Spotwood, Sr. and Imogene Jackson, two sisters, Constance Deal and Roberta Downing and one brother, Cecil Jackson. He leaves to cherish precious memories: his wife of fifty-one (51) years, Lois Mae Jackson; four sons - Dwight Jackson (Cheryl), Deitrick Coleman (Joy), Amrow Jackson (Jawanda); two daughters - Denise McCall and Dinnel Marshall; three brothers, Theobald Jackson (Virginia), Charles Childs and Marvin Jackson; one sister, Cynthia Jackson; two aunts, Iva Brooken and Mildred Polk; one uncle, Roger Polk; eleven grandchildren, Desmond, Lahmar, Kayla, Darren, Almani, Alyanna, Zander, Deitrick, Eryn, Amari, and Abigail; two great grandchildren, Aubrey and Aaron; a host of nieces, nephews and his Solid Rock church family.
