Ruth Eva Collins (Blake)

Obituary Ruth Eva Collins was born in Stockton, Maryland on November 16, 1938. She was the daughter of the late Virginia Edna Johnson and Mervin Collins. Surrounded by her friends and family, she peacefully was called home to be with the Heavenly Father on Saturday, December 15, 2018. Ruth received her education in the public schools in Worcester County, Maryland. She was employed with a number of poultry plants and was a Care Provider as well. At an early age, Ruth joined St. Paul United Methodist Church in Stockton, Maryland, which eventually merged with Shiloh United Methodist Church. She served on the United Methodist Women Committee, was a member of the choir and a pianist for the churches for over sixty (60) years until her health began to decline. When he saw the need to assist as a musician, as her health declined, George Joynes, who was one of Ruth’s most faithful friends, helped her throughout the years and he still continues to do the work of the Lord. George also provided support and care for Ruth until she gently departed from her earthly life. Ruth loved the Lord and exemplified Him through the life that she lived. Ruth was a very sweet, loving, unselfish woman who gave a helping hand to those who were in need. One of her favorite pastimes was playing the piano and singing hymns and gospel songs in her home for her family and friends. Surviving to cherish precious memories of Ruth’s life are: her special companion of thirty-two (32) years, George Joynes of Pocomoke, MD, whom she affectionately called “Cakes”; two sons, Anderson (Christine) Blake, Sr. and Ronnie Blake, both of Salisbury, MD; three daughters, Mary (Kenneth) Palmer of Salisbury, MD, Ruth Arlene (Ronnie, Sr.) Collins-Schoolfield of Pocomoke, MD and Teresa Collins of Salisbury, MD; two sisters, Lanette (McKinley) Smith of Snow Hill, MD and Janice Collins of Stockton, MD; three brothers, John Wallop of Camp Springs, MD, Ronnie Collins of Pocomoke, MD and Jerome (Wendy) Collins of Snow Hill, MD; six grandchildren, Anderson Blake, Jr. of Texas, Tony Blake of Salisbury, MD, Jarmal (Jeanette) of Miami, FL, Ronnie Schoolfield, Jr. and Ryan Schoolfield, both of Pocomoke, MD and Jayla Green of Fort Washington, MD; one uncle, Joseph Blake (Eunice) of Pocomoke, MD; one aunt, Emma (Owen) Jackson of Snow Hill, MD; a special cousin, Doris Blake of Pocomoke, MD, who was like a sister who provided care and kept her updated on the late gospel, as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, Virginia Johnson and Mervin Collins, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Collins and brother, Grant Johnson. LOVINGLY SUBMITTED ~ The Family
