Ronnie Lee Hovington

Ronnie Lee Hovington, Jr., 38, was born on August 20, 1980, to Ronnie and Jane Hovington. He departed this life on April 28, 2019, at Bayhealth Hospital, Kent Campus. Ronnie was a 1998 graduate of Sussex Central High School. He went on to further his education at Delaware State University, majoring in Art Education. While at DSU, he was a part of the Hornets football team. Ronnie was employed by Lake Forest School District as a Paraprofessional. Ronnie also coached football and track. Prior to his employment at Lake Forest, he was employed by the Murphy School in Dover, Delaware. He was an avid sports fan and he often volunteered to assist with various youth programs. He was an awesome mentor to many students. Ronnie was a true Dallas Cowboys fan. He represented the blue and silver with pride. One of his greatest memories was attending a Dallas Cowboys game with his son Juwan last year, and they had a blast. He loved to send text messages to the family when the Cowboys won, but when they didn’t do so well, you wouldn’t hear a peep from him. Ronnie was a fun loving, well mannered, outgoing young man with an infectious smile. He was always willing to lend a hand to everyone he came in contact with. Ronnie had a heart of gold. Oftentimes, Ronnie would unselfishly forego his needs to help or provide for others. If he couldn’t help you, he would find another way or someone that could help. He loved spending time with his children and his family. He also enjoyed helping in the BBQ pit for the Richard Allen School, playing spades, the beach, family vacations, trips with the Millers’ and just making people laugh. Ronnie always had a smile on his face, even while he was crying on the inside. Ronnie had such a sense of humor, he was always the one that kept the family laughing. Ronnie received the Lord at a young age. He loved the Lord. He would send daily “Food for Thought” scriptures to his family and friends. He touched many lives with those scriptures. People looked forward to receiving them, as it was a daily encouragement. In March, Ronnie spoke at his church on the topic of faith. He delivered a powerful message. Ronnie often spoke about the goodness of the Lord and how he was truly blessed. Ronnie was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Knowles and Mabel Hovington and maternal grandmother, Marion Tarboro. Ronnie leaves to cherish his memories, his parents, Ronnie and Jane Hovington of Georgetown; his children Juwan Savage, Xavier Dickerson, O’Rion Dickerson, Alana Wilkerson, Ziahn Young, Phoenix Dickerson and Ameer Wilkerson-Hovington; one grandfather, Roy Tarboro; one sister, Haronda Sheppard (Nathan) of Millsboro; two brothers, Gerald Miller (Anita) of Dover and Knowles Hovington of Dover; one niece, eleven nephews, and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and special friends.
