Robert Andrew Johnson Jr.

Obituary Robert Andrew Johnson, Jr., a resident of Morgnec, Maryland, departed this life on Monday April 24, 2023 at the age of seventy-eight (78). He was born on June 23, 1944 in Kent County. The son of the late Robert, Sr. and Nora Newman Johnson, Robert graduated from Henry Highland Garnett High School in Chestertown, Maryland. He was married to his wife Iris for fifty-seven (57) years. Robert was employed at Campbell Soup Company as a Maintenance Technician until he retired. He was a member of the United Church of Deliverance under the leadership of Bishop G. Blake and the Reverend L. Blake. Later he was led to join the Full Gospel Church of Deliverance, pastored by his brother Bishop Wilson Newman in Townsend, Delaware. Robert loved playing his guitar and singing with his brothers. Two of his favorite songs were “Cooling Waters” and “Heavenly Choir.” Robert would always keep his cars and truck spotless. In his younger days, he would name his cars. One in particular was a Gray Oldsmobile, which he called “The Gray Ghost.” He enjoyed gardening and playing horse shoes, shooting pool with his brothers and brother-in-law, and hunting was also something that he looked forward to doing every year. Robert was always ready to lend a helping hand. He enjoyed taking care of his beloved wife and family and spoiling his daughter. He leaves to cherish his memories: his wife, Iris Johnson of Morgnec, Maryland; daughter, Romaine Johnson of Morgnec, Maryland; sons, Vincent Wilson and Weldon Stanford (Marie) of Culpepper, Virginia; brothers, William Newman of Morgnec, Maryland, Howard Johnson (Hilda) of Newark, Delaware and Eugene Johnson (Linda) of Morgnec, Maryland; sisters, Sarah Wallace of Lincoln University, Pennsylvania and Patricia King (Maurice) of Chestertown, Maryland; grandchildren, Flexzandie Stanford, Johahya Stanford, Vincent Wilson, Jr., Latrice Wilson, Lamar Wilson and Sherice Wilson; brothers-in-law, William Stanford and James Stanford, Grice King, Dorothea Stanford; cousin, Genevia Sadler and a host of nieces , nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins and friends.
