Pearl C. Dixon

Pearl Clara Cannon Dixon was born on Friday, August 28, 1925, in Bridgeville, Delaware to the late Mary Jane and Noah W. Cannon. She was the 8th of 15 children. She passed away on Monday, March 10, 2014, at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital in Seaford, Delaware. Pearl was educated at Trinity School in Dublin Hill, and worked at H.P. Cannon Company, Bramhall's and several other factories, eventually retiring from Mountaire Poultry Plant in Selbyville, Delaware. She met and married Clinton W. Dixon, and to that union six children were born. She loved to sew and create one-of-a-kind designs for herself, her children and others, without a pattern! She was very loving, compassionate and would do "anything" for anybody. Pearl was soft-spoken, but could hold her ground. Baking sweet potato pies was her passion. Mt. Calvary United Methodist Church in Bridgeville, Delaware was where Pearl began her love of God, and as her walk with the Lord progressed, she began to worship at Greater Faith Temple Church of God in Christ at Coverdale Crossroads, Bridgeville, Delaware. "Mom Pearl", as she was lovingly-known, was led to transition to Emmanuel Deliverance Ministry in Hurlock, Maryland with her family. Pearl loved to sing and, most especially, enjoyed "Amazing Grace", "One Day At A Time" and "The Blood". In her praise, she will be remembered for loving to run around the church. She was a faithful disciple. Pearl was preceded in death by her parents, Mary J. and Noah Cannon; one son: Thomas Cannon; six brothers: Thomas Cannon, Jerome Cannon, Noah Cannon, William Cannon, Leon Cannon, Richard Cannon, and Bradford Cannon; and three sisters: Belle Cannon, Lillie Mae Tingle and Mary Pinder. She leaves to mourn her loss, six children: Harold (Carolyn) Dixon of Bridgeville, Delaware, Ellen Quail of Dover, Delaware, Larry (Kathy) Dixon of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Janet Purnell of Berlin, Maryland, Craig (Lisa) Dixon of Las Vegas, Neveda and Judy (Charles) Roach of Bridgeville, Delaware; two brothers: Elijah Cannon of Dover, Delaware, Isaac (Barbara) Cannon of Dover, Delaware; and three sisters: Martha Robins of Seaford, Delaware, Louise (Thomas) Yarborough of Greenwood, Delaware and Nancy Ricketts of Bridgeville, Delaware; 13 grandchildren, 17 great- grandchildren and several great-great grandchildren; several in-laws; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
