Patricia Brayboy

Patricia Diane Brayboy was born on January 7, 1954, in Painter, Virginia, to the late John William Floyd, Jr. and Louise Keys-Floyd. The Floyd family moved to Kent Narrows, Maryland, where she attended Queen Anne’s County School District until the eighth grade. In 1967, the family moved to Delaware where she attended and graduated from Caesar Rodney High School in 1973. Patricia also enrolled in Kent Vocational School in Woodside, Delaware where she received a certificate in Culinary Arts. Patricia began working at Playtex International in 1974. She had several positions while employed, including assembly line operator, machine operator and Quality Control Inspector. She was a hardworking and dedicated employee until she retired, after 43 years of service, in January 2017. Prior to her marriage, Patricia lived with her oldest sister, Margaret and her two children, Leetress and Kimberly. She assisted in nurturing her nieces for approximately 6 years before having a family of her own. On March 13, 1979, Patricia married Jimmie Lee Brayboy, Sr., at Emmanuel Pentecostal Church of God in Camden, Delaware, where the Honorable Bishop Joseph P. Cooper, Sr. was pastor. From this union, they had two wonderful children – Jimmie Lee Jr. and Jermaine Andre. They lived in Lebanon, Delaware for many years finally settling in Camden, Delaware, where she raised her family. Her greatest accomplishment was receiving the Lord as her personal Savior as a teenager. Under the leadership of the Honorable Bishop Joseph P. Cooper, Sr., Patricia matured as a Christian and held true to the standard of Holiness until her departure from this life. She participated in different church auxiliaries such as being a member of the Pentecostal Choral Ensemble, Willing Workers Committee, Sunday School and Usher Departments. Also, she was the senior announcement clerk for many years. Patricia loved the Lord with all of her heart and stood for what she believed in until the end. Patricia was known for her style and grace. She had to have her hair styled a certain way, clothes coordinated to the finest detail and beautiful hats and shoes to match every outfit. She used to say “that she knew how she looked when she left the house.” Patricia loved having fun even though her demeanor was very serious. Her joys were crocheting, reading, cleaning, cooking, shopping and spending time with family. Some of her favorite pastimes included, talking on the phone, shopping and having dinners with her “Inner Circle”. Patricia was preceded in death by her father, John William Floyd, Jr.; one brother, Clarence Floyd and one sister, Carolyn Ayers. Patricia leaves to cherish memories, her husband of 41 years, Jimmie Lee Brayboy, Sr.; two sons, Jimmie Lee Brayboy (Takiera) of Enterprise, AL and Jermaine Brayboy of Baltimore, MD; mother, Louise E. Brayboy; three sisters, Margaret E. Burris of Dover, DE, Elsie S. Floyd of Dover, DE and Teresa E. Benson (Dale) of Harrington, DE; two brothers, Maurice K. Floyd, Sr. of Dover, DE and Clyde W. Floyd (Wanda) of Camden, DE; one granddaughter, Danielle K. Brayboy of (Clarksville, TN); two special nieces, Leetress M. Burris and Kimberly D. Brown and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
