Norma Lee Disharoon

Obituary Norma Lee Leatherbury Disharoon of Princess Anne, Maryland went to be with her Heavenly father Saturday, December 2, 2017. She was born on October 2, 1946 in Somerset County, Maryland to the late Archie Leatherbury, Sr. and Bertha V. Christopher Leatherbury Jones She was educated in Somerset County, Maryland in 1981, she received her GED and went on to take some college courses at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore where she was also employed for 22 years. She was employed with the Somerset County Board of Education for 15 years and Strides/Shore Transit for over 10 years upon retirement. Se accepted the Lord Jesus Christ at an early age . She was a member of Mt. Hope A.M.E. Zion Church. Norma loved to crab, cook, play cards and spend time with family. Norma was affectionately known as (Mom, Mom-mom and Norma Lee). She was a loving and caring person who loved to play Monopoly, Checkers and Connect Four with her grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her lifelong partner John W. Ballard, Sr.; sisters Shirley Snowden and Catherine McCready; brothers Leroy Leatherbury Sr. and Thomas Leatherbury. She leaves to cherish fond memories: her children Annette Lawrence (Phillip), John W. Ballard, Jr. (Joyce), Debra Handy (Jimmy), Angie Peters (Verlon) all of Wicomico County, Maryland, Gloria Curtis, Sherry Leatherbury, Janet Leatherbury and Salmonia Schoolfield (Edwin) all of Princess Anne, Maryland and Catherine Palmer of Hickory, North Carolina; She also leaves two god sons Mance McCall and James Weathersby, Jr.; one brothers Archie Leatherbury, Jr. (Barbara); one sister Pauline Oakley; two sister-in-laws Barbara Leatherbury and Ella Leatherbury; one aunt, Agnes Eason of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; one uncle Francis Christopher of Eden, Maryland; special cousin/sister Sandra Lee Wallace; four special friends, Helen (Poogie) Beckett, Lois Douglas, Elton Cottman, Sr. and Thomas Tilghman; 30 grandchildren, 47 great grandchildren; 3 special granddogs, Hyper, Pepe and Snowball, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
