Collette Monique Smith-Morrow

Collette Monique Smith Morrow born to Martha T. Smith and John L. Smith, Sr. on June 10, 1974 in Milford, Delaware departed this life on August 7, 2013 at Bayhealth Hospital in Dover, Delaware. Collette gave her life to Christ as a young girl and was a faithful member of Holy Trinity Church of the Living God in Dover, Delaware where her mother is the pastor. She especially loved gospel music and was a talented choir director. At the time of her passing, she worked in the Music Ministry of Holy Trinity. She was responsible for directing the adult, youth, and combined choirs. Also, while living in Columbus, Georgia, she established the praise team at New Providence Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Gerald Parker. Her passion for directing with precision and fervency was best demonstrated when she directed “God Is In Control!” Collette was educated in the Capital School District in Dover, Delaware. In 1993, she graduated from Dover High School where she established the school’s first Gospel Choir. Since her youth, Collette shared her faith and belief in Jesus Christ freely and openly. As a result, she was voted ‘Most Likely to Become a Spiritual Leader’ by her classmates at Dover High School. Collette attended Delaware State University. She was a certified phlebotomist and held numerous positions in customer service and care giving. One of her strongest personal qualities was that she had a genuine concern for the welfare of people. Even in death, Collette touched the lives of others. Seven critically ill individuals were given the gift of life through her generous designation of being an organ donor. While residing in Columbus, Georgia she met the love of her life, Curtis L. Morrow. On February 5, 2010, they married and the loving couple made their home together in Dover, Delaware until Curtis’ passing on December 31, 2011. Collette was very outgoing and expressive with a flair for high fashion and unique hairstyles. Her warm smile and welcoming embrace will be missed. Collette was a loving mother, daughter and friend. She is preceded in death by her husband, Curtis Lamar Morrow; two sons, Damien Ross and Lamar Ross; her paternal grandparents, Premier and Irene Smith; and her maternal grandparents, Lonnie and Overseer Rosie Johnson. Collette leaves to cherish her precious memories her parents, Elder John and Pastor Martha Smith of Dover, Delaware; three children, Amber Meredith, Austin Ross and Aleyah Ross, all of Dover; a grandson, Jasier Ross-Bull of Dover; a sister, Damita Steele of Dover; two brothers, John Smith, Jr. (Demetra) of Dover, and Allen Tracy Lewis of Wilmington, Delaware; a beloved aunt, Cornelia Davis of Middletown, Delaware; godparents, Herbert and Jean Sudler; her lifetime best friends, Aretha Hughes, Angie Way, Yolanda Yoseph, Erica Bryan and Shawn Russell; godchildren, Cerarea Demby and De’Andre Dearinge, and a host of other relatives and friends.
