Milton Lee Harmon Sr.

His Life Story “A good husband, a good friend, and an exceptionally good man” Milton Lee Harmon, Sr., son of the late Tyvolia and Lee Harmon, was born on April 10, 1948 in Wattsville, VA. God gently called Milton from labor to his reward on May 9, 2020. Milton received his formal education in the Accomack County Public Schools System. At an early age, he joined Friendship United Methodist (now known as New Beginnings) in Wattsville. Milton faithfully attended Mt. Zion United Methodist Church located in Pocomoke City, Maryland. He was a member of the Usher Board and Men’s Choir. He greatly loved singing on the choir, being an Usher and whatever needed to be done. Milton was always willing to lend a helping hand. He was also a member of Unionville Masonic Lodge #45 located in Pocomoke City for more than 20 years. In 1987, Milton was joined in holy matrimony to Marlene B. Holden. They enjoyed nearly 33 years of friendship, love and mutual respect. Milton was the epitome of a dedicated, funloving and devoted husband. After more than 40 years of service, Milton retired from Tyson Foods in Temperanceville, VA. He was a hardworking , devoted man, who took his job very serious - never wanting to miss a day of work. Milton loved fishing and bowling. He would often go to the bowling alley on Friday nights even after he could no longer bowl. He simply loved just being with his friends. Everyone loved Milton - his family, his friends, and especially his wife, Marlene. Never an unkind word was spoken about him. Milton was fun-loving, kind and always kept something going. He was the life of the party or whatever was going on. Milton never got angry at anyone - he was too busy making everyone else angry (in a good way) by the funny things that he would do and say. Truth be told, everyone always had good things to say about Milton. He was just that kind of man and he was truly loved by his nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Milton was preceded in death by a son, a daughter, two sisters, one brother and several aunts and uncles. Milton leaves to cherish his precious memories and continue his legacy: a devoted and loving wife, Marlene Harmon; three sons, Gary (Crystal) of Crisfield, MD, Michael of Chincoteague, VA, and Milton, Jr. (Amy) of Pocomoke City, MD; five grandchildren, Jasmine Harmon, Kevin Fletcher, Treyvon Harmon, My’Asia Harmon and Ma-Kira Wallop; several greatgrandchildren; five sisters, Helen (Oliver) Chandler of Parksley, VA, Jerlena Palmer of Laurelton, NY, Eunice Harmon of Salisbury, MD, Sandra (Milton) Christian of Parksley; and Hilda Harmon of Wattsville; three brothers, Robert (Claudine) Harmon of New Church, VA, Arthur “Curlie” (Aniece) Harmon of Seattle, WA and Bobby Barker of Pocomoke City; two uncles, Ralph (Elizabeth) and Rudolph Tull of Wattsville; three aunts, Althea Ewell of Wattsville, Estelle Tull of Pocomoke City, and Martha Tull of Wattsville; 2 sisters-in-law, Deborah Garland (James) of Stuart, FL and Mable (Derrick) Jones of Pocomoke City; five brothers-in-law, William (Cindy) Holden of Pocomoke City, Gregory (Vera) Holden of Pocomoke City, Gary (Sandy) Holden of West Palm Beach, FL, Bruce (Ayonna) Holden of Olive Branch, MS, Michael (Ina) Holden of Cambridge, MD; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. He also leaves to cherish the good times with his fishing buddies, especially Hinson and Mable Finney; his poker playing buddies, especially Doug Matthews and Marvin Bryant, who Milton would call “Twin”; his Lodge Brothers; and all others who truly made an impact in his life.
