Mervin's Journey “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. I have told you now before it happens, so that when it does happen you will believe.” JOHN 14:27-29 Mervin Chauncey Williams, Jr., son of the late Mervin Chauncey Williams. Sr. and Rietta Lee, departed this life on Sunday morning on January 17, 2021 at Anchorage Nursing Home, following a lengthy illness. We have gathered here to pay tribute to his life and cherish his memories. He was born on December 16, 1940 in Somerset County, Maryland. Mervin, or “Picky” as he was affectionately called, received his formal education in the Somerset County public school system. He received “Jesus Christ” as his Lord and Savior at Macedonia United Methodist Church in Dames Quarter, Maryland. He married his sweetheart, Evonne White, and from this union three children were born. Mervin was employed for thirty-three (33) years at Campbell Soup Company until its closing. Soon afterwards, he worked for Salisbury State University. Later, Mervin was employed by the Holly Center and retired with five years of service. “Picky’s” favorite hobby was spending quality time with his family. Other past times were either lying on the couch or sitting in his favorite chair watching movies, surrounded by his wife and other family members. He possessed a loving and jovial spirit and was always concerned for the welfare of those close to him. He leaves to cherish loving memories: his wife of fifty-five (55) years, Evonne; two sons, Weldon (Helen) and Marvin III (Jackie), all of Salisbury, Maryland; one daughter, Nina Williams-Carr (Terry) of Eden Maryland; one sister, Mary Wright (Emmett) of Woodbridge, Virginia; grandchildren, Lionel, Marc, Mervin, Ashley and LaKeeia Williams, Latonia Perry and Kashocka Adams; fourteen (14) great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Under the wide and starry sky, dig the grave and let me lie. Gladly did I live and gladly did I die. And I laid down with a will. This be the verse you gave for me; Here lies where he longed to be.
