The Obituary MARY DASHIELD ROBERTS November 10, 1923 - January 27-2015 Come unto me all ye that labor and are heavy laden and I will give thee rest. Matthew 11:28 On January 27, 2015, God said it’s time to come home Mary and she departed this life peacefully at Genesis, Nursing Home, Salisbury, MD, at the age of 91. She was one of seven children (Robert, William, George, Ruth, Helen, and Charlottie) and the last remaining sibling born to the late George and Mary Dashield of Tyaskin, Maryland. She was given the nickname of “little Mary” which distinguished her from having the same name as her mother. Mary was married to the late Willard Roberts, Sr. who passed away August, 1999. She was a faithful wife and they shared more than 20-years together. Mary was employed by Peninsula General Hospital (PRMC) as a nurse’s aide for 30-years. She retired to become a caretaker of an ailing sibling. Afterwards, she continued to use her nursing skills as a caretaker for many other family members. She was a lifelong member of Freedmans Methodist Church in Tyaskin, Maryland. She loved the Lord and her church family. Mary served in many positions at the church such as: communion steward, senior choir, usher board, homecoming committee and trustee chairman. She was a faithful member until her health no longer permitted her to remain active. She also attended Cathedral of Deliverance and Rapture Ready Ministries, Inc. churches where she enjoyed fellowshipping and worshipping God. Many times you could hear her praising God with an “Amen” or “Yea”. She loved listening to music, reading the newspaper and working word searches. She attended Shady Pines Adult Day Care Center in Salisbury, Maryland, where she enjoyed the fellowship and wonderful staff. She was affectionately called by family and friends “Mom Mary”. Although a woman of few words, she often mentioned her age to family members to remind them of why she was moving slow. She loved her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great children and often was present at Sunday dinners or church gatherings. Her last years were spent living with her daughter Andrea Price where she remained until entering the nursing home. Mary leaves to mourn three children: Pastor Sharon Sampson (Vaughn), Lumont Dashield (Denise), Andrea Price (Oscar); ten grandchildren: Sabrina Hull, Barthine Sells, Evang. Fayetta Polk (Calvin), Vanita Johnson (DeAndre, Sr.), VaShawn Sampson, Dominique Dashield, Lavonne Dashield, Lumont Dashield, Jr., Alden Morris, DeRosia Price; fourgreat-grand children: DeAndre Johnson, Jr. (Brittani), DreQuan Johnson, Brandon Sells, Chakira Sells; three great-great grand children: Destiny Dashield , SeRenity Sells, Joshua Strand, Jr. She was preceded in death by two children: Bartholomew Hull, Donzella Dashield, daughter- in- law, Sarah Duncan Hull, three great-grand children: Brandi Sells, Chiantae & Chakira Lanier.
