Marilyn C. Baynard

Marilyn Baynard, loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend to many, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, May 30th. She was born on April 26, 1939, in Charleston, SC, and was the second of four daughters born to the late Arthur and Addie Cohen. Marilyn was a warm, compassionate woman with a sense of humor and an infectious smile. Everyone who knew her was drawn to her energy. As a faithful member of Milford Church of God, she enjoyed her time working at the food closet and as a church greeter. She had a gift for making everyone feel loved and special. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 51 years Kenneth Baynard in 2013. The true joy of her life were her children; Roy Cohen and wife Stephanie, Denise Cohen, Bryan Cohen, Rosalind Hill and husband Emanuel, Kenneth Baynard, Shelly Baynard, Darryl Baynard and wife Crystal; her beloved grandchildren, Royanda Newcomb, Roy Butts, Kerry Cohen, Kevin Baynard, Natasha Carter, Patrice Cohen and Cameron Starnes; sisters , Louise Magee and husband Kendall, Aletha Hutchins and husband Edward, Naomi Friend and husband Stanley; great grandchildren; great- great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. The family would like to thank everyone for their love, prayers, support and acts of kindness during this time. A special thank you to Hospice of Delaware for providing care and support during her final days. Memorial Services will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, June 6, 2015 at Milford Church of God. Visitation will be from 9:30am to 11:00am prior to the service. A private graveside service at Sharon Hill’s Memorial Park in Dover, Delaware on Sunday, June 7, 2015 at 1:00 P.M. True to her strong spirit and faith, Marilyn continued to focus on family and church until the Lord called her home. The Last Request Please don’t say that I gave up, just say that I gave in; Don’t say I lost the battle, for it was God’s war to lose or win; Please don’t say how good I was, but that I did my best; Just say I tried to do what’s right, to give the most I could, not less: I want no more than I deserve, no extras, just my due Please don’t give flowers, or talk in real hushed tones; Don’t talk about what could have been, it’s over and it’s done Just see to all my family’s needs, especially the little ones When you draw a picture of me, don’t draw me as a saint; I’ve done some good; I’ve done some wrong, so use all your paint; Not just the bright and light tones use some gray and dark; In fact, don’t put me down on canvas, paint me in your heart, Don’t just remember the good times, but remember all the bad; For life is full of many things, some happy and some sad, But if you must do something, then I have one request, Forgive me for the wrong I’ve done, and with the love that’s left, Thank God for my soul’s resting Thank God for I’ve been blessed Thank God for all who loved me Praise God who loved me best And always remember; “I Love you more” To send flowers to the family or plant a tree in memory of Marilyn C.
