Marian’s Life Story Marian Victoria “Vicki” Banks, beloved daughter of the late Helen Ardelia Simpson and Samuel Charles Handy, peacefully transitioned from this life on Monday, July 21, 2025, at Bay Harbor in Salisbury, MD. She was born on August 19, 1954. Proudly educated in the Wicomico County Public School system, Marian went on to work for several local companies, including Campbell Soup, Wheaton, and most recently, Jubilant Cadista, from which she retired in 2024. It was during her time at Campbell Soup that Marian met the love of her life, John R. Banks, her “Booby.” Their connection blossomed into a beautiful union, where they have shared nearly thirty-three (33) wonderful years of marriage. Marian will be lovingly remembered by: her husband, John R. Banks; her children, Allen E. White, Iyana K. Layne “Candy Dorman” (Christopher K. Layne Sr.), Deltez K. Jackson (Nicole M. Jackson), Jackie Banks, and Raquel B. Weeks; her cherished grandchildren, Christopher K. Layne, Jr., Nicole T. Layne, Malcolm B. Ballard, Ashby N. Jackson, Deryanah A. Jackson, Ja’aliyah L. Banks-Calanton, Dakota N. Jackson, Demiah A. Jackson, Jeremiah K. Jackson and Destiny A. Jackson; three great-grandchildren; sisters, Ann V. Church, Sandra L. Handy, and Benita G. Handy; brother, Reginald Coleman; sister-in-law, Robin D. Wright (Kenneth Wright); brother-in-law, Walter L. Banks (Norma Banks); uncle, Donald E. Simpson and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. Marian was preceded in death by: her parents, Helen A. Simpson and Samuel C. Handy; her father-in-law, Robert L. Banks; mother-in-law, Bessie E. Banks; beloved aunts, Alberta Tucker, Lillie M. Simpson, Viola R. Simpson and Mary C. Church and uncle, John Simpson, Jr. Known for her famously delicious spaghetti and fried white potatoes, Marian found joy in simple pleasures—watching CBS soap operas and game shows, cracking open blue crabs, and most of all, spending time with her family. Her greatest joy came from those everyday moments and lovingly keeping her “Booby” on his toes. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. Submitted With Love ~ The Family
