Margaret H. King

Margaret Helen (Loper) King was born on September 17, 1917 in Felton, Delaware. She was the third of seven children born to the late Millie Lewis Loper and Roland Loper. She entered into eternal rest at the age of 97 on Tuesday, December 16, 2014. Her early life was spent in Felton, Delaware were she resided until moving to Magnolia to live with her granddaughter, Ronnita Quail for several years. She attended school in Viola, Delaware. Margaret was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Albert King. She was employed by the State of Delaware and retired as a custodian at Lake Forest High School in Felton, DE. She was a lifelong and the oldest living member of Mt. Plymouth AME Church in Felton, Delaware. She had a true love for God and her church family. A dedicated and faithful member, she was supportive of the church and especially youth activities. She loved and appreciated all of God’s creations. Her greatest love was people. “Mom-Mom”, as she was affectionately known, loved and adored her family and friends. She was a dedicated mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother. She shared herself with family freely and continuously. Her grandchildren, though, were the love of her life. You dared not harm or hurt any one of them. She was the staple and the rock of her family and well respected in the community. She always thought of others and their well being. She was known as the “Town Crier”. Without leaving her home, she was very much aware of everything going on in the community. Margaret was outspoken and honest, and she freely shared her wisdom and knowledge with all, especially her family. She liked to shop and go out to eat with her sisters, go to yard sales and enjoyed watching television. She was preceded in death by her husband; three brothers, Robert, James and John Loper; three sisters, Almeda Hawkins, Jeanette Sinkfield and Doris Campbell; and one grandson, Michael Quail. She leaves to cherish her precious memories and love, one son, Robert Loper, Sr. (Helen), one daughter, Naomi Quail (Phil), nine grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, 28 great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
