Lorraine Swena Schoolfield (Marshall)

Lorraine’s Life Lorraine Swena Marshall-Schoolfield was born on March 13, 1946 to the late Charles Collins, Sr. and August Marshall in Stockton, Maryland. She departed this life on Tuesday, February 12, 2019. Lorraine received her education in Worcester County public schools. She was a member of Mt. Sinai Baptist Church in Wardtown, Virginia and later attended Georgetown Baptist Church in Pocomoke, Maryland. Lorraine was united in holy matrimony to Roger Lee Schoolfield in July 1979, who preceded her in death. She was employed in the hotel industry for over twenty years until her health began to fail. Lorraine was loyal and dedicated and often spoke about how she enjoyed working in the hospitality industry. She will always be remembered as a very loving and devoted sister, aunt and friend. She will be deeply missed by all who loved her. Lorraine knew the Lord and she read her Bible daily. Her Bible was still open on her bed, prior to her leaving for her doctor’s appointment. Lorraine was praying and praising the Lord just before her doctor’s appointment. That was her daily routine—praying, praising the Lord, watching the Christian channel, Family Feud, working crossword puzzles, and calling her brother Edward every day. Although Lorraine did not have children, she instinctively loved Debbie, Yolonda and Lakisha as her own daughters and her godson, Jermaine Ayres. She loved all her family and friends and always opened her home to anyone in need and would give them her last. Lorraine took joy in hosting the annual family reunions and countless Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners. Lorraine is survived by: seven brothers—Grover (Martina) Marshall, Edward Marshall, Ernest Marshall, Tommy Marshall, Jerry Marshall, Leroy Marshall and Anthony (Joann) Marshall; two aunts, Elizabeth Marshall and Laura Spence; four sisters, Daisey Handy, Joyce (Lewis) Schoolfield, Thelma Brown and Debbie Marshall; one sister-in-law, Shirlena Schoolfield and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Lorraine also leaves behind her “telephone buddies”, whom she would call (or they would call) every day just to check on each other, Alberta Jones, Betty Henry, Brenda Revels, Emily Rubels, Lola Harris, Rosa Smith, Rosa Lee Melendez, Mildred Beckett, Sheila Ayres (Squeaky) and an adopted daughter/care giver, Cherrie Revel and adopted son, Purcell Yante. In addition to her parents and husband, who preceded her in death, she was also preceded in death by her grandparents, Ranzo and Sarah Marshall, one sister, Juanita Knox, her brother, Charles Collins, Jr., aunts and uncles, Earline Claire, Helen, Frederick, Carlton and Willard Marshall, cousin, Joseph Claire, sister-in-law Audrey Marshall, nephew, Adrian Marshall and two long-time friends, Corrine Marshall and Bertha Allen.
