Lola Mae Jackson

Lola Mae Jackson, departed this life on Wednesday, November 11, 2020, at the age of 78, after a long illness, at Lofland Park Center in Seaford, Delaware. Lola was born on Monday, October 5, 1942, in Englehardt, North Carolina. The family came to Delaware in 1952. She was raised in Georgetown, Delaware. She attended Richard Allen School, then went to William C. Jason Comprehensive High School. Lola was employed at the Bean Factory in Georgetown, Delaware, as well as, Paramount Poultry/Cargill/Allen Foods in Harbeson, Delaware. She retired, but continued working at the Lewes Convalescent Nursing Home as a housekeeper. She also worked part-time at the Georgetown Court House. Lola met the love of her life, Eugene Jackson and they were married for 22 years, sharing one son, Lydell Jackson. Lola enjoyed watching WWE Wresting and Western movies, and all of the daily stories, including The Young and the Restless, while feasting on a big bowl of ice cream. She especially enjoyed family gatherings at her parents’ house where she and her siblings would meet, every first Saturday of the month, to talk, laugh and eat. She liked to cook and would try different recipes. She loved cooking meatballs for any family occasion. Lola accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. Lola was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Jackson; parents, James, Sr. and Ola Gibbs; two brothers, James, Jr. and Wilbert, Sr.; and two sisters, Lillie Williams and Kay Purnell. Lola is survived by one son, Lydell Jackson of Seaford, DE; a special granddaughter, Destiny Rogers of Delmar, MD; nine step-children; two brothers-in-law, Thomas Jones of Wilmington, DE and Emerson Jones (Marion); six sisters-in-law, Henrietta Cannon (Donald), Shirley Gillis (Brian), Mary Duker (Timothy) and Shirley Gibbs, all of Seaford, DE, Dorothy Gibbs of Boston, MA and Elizabeth Pettyjohn of Harrington, DE; a special friend, Helena Richards of Seaford, DE; four brothers, Thomas Gibbs, Sr. (Ora) of Conyers, GA; Frank Gibbs, Sr. (Mary) of Georgetown, DE, Robert Allen Gibbs of Lincoln, DE and Kenny Gibbs (Melvina) of Harbeson, DE; two sisters, Mable Hopkins and Joetta Harmon (Billy) both of Georgetown, DE; two special aunts, Patricia Mann of Seaford, DE and Delores Andrews of Hurlock, MD; her favorite pastor, Pastor PJ; the St. Matthews First Baptist Church family of Laurel, DE; and a host of special friends, nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.
