Lester Patrick Jr.

Lester Patrick, Jr., often referred to as Bud, son of the late Lester Patrick, Sr. and Nannie Mae Pannell Patrick, was born on Thursday, September 11, 1941, in Pittsylvania County, Virginia. He departed this life on Wednesday, October 30, 2019, at the Christiana Hospital in Newark, Delaware. Lester, “Bud”, received his early education in the public schools of Chatham, Virginia. While in school, he worked as a farmhand until he migrated to Newark, Delaware for better opportunities. Before leaving Chatham, Virginia Lester was united in holy matrimony on April 25, 1964, to Irene Virginia Davis. Upon arriving to Delaware, Lester found employment at the City of Newark. As his family grew, he sought and found employment at Curtis Paper/James River Company in Newark where he stayed for 30 years until the company closed. Lester wasn’t ready for early retirement, so he found new employment at Astro Power/GE and stayed with the company 10 years and officially retired in 2008. Lester had many talents. He was a barber, handyman, mechanic, and car detailer. If you could name it, he could probably do it because he touched on many things. He had many hobbies, including fishing and crabbing. His favorite pastime was watching WWF/WWE wrestling. He loved traveling and vacationing with the family, affectionately known as “The Wolfpack”. Bud was the Alpha and the family was the pack that followed. He truly “Loved” his family with all his might. The last, and will be the most memorable, was the trip to Virginia in September, where he was the back-seat navigator. We will miss his saying’s like, “That was alright” and “You know what you know, when you know” and so many more. Bud was preceded in death by two sisters, Emma Lou Logan and Mary Catherine Womack and one brother, Charlie Lee Patrick. Bud leaves to cherish his memories: wife, Irene V. Patrick; children, son, Rodney (Toni), daughter, Georgette McCray (Reuben), son, Lester III (Donna), and daughter, Helena M. Patrick all of Newark DE; grandsons, Brandon J., Michael Wallace, Rodney Jr., Justen Patrick all of Newark DE; sister, Constance Patrick; brothers, Joseph Patrick (Cheryl) and James Patrick; two great grandsons, Brandon Jr. and Quintin R. Patrick; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and neighbors.
