Kimberly Johnson

Kimberly Renee Johnson departed this life of Friday, February 13, 2015, after a lengthy illness. Kimberly (Kim) was born in Dover, DE on July 22, 1966. She was the daughter of Curtis and Eleanor Hamm, Sr. Kim had a loving relationship with all of her grandparents; Nolan and Gladys Snell of San Francisco, CA; Norman and Anna Brady of Milford, DE and Ira and Buelah Hamm of Goldsboro, NC, all of whom preceded her in death. Kim attended public school in the Capital School District, where she graduated from Dover High in 1984. She participated in the following activities: The Ebony Club, CMM Band, cheerleading and Future Home Markers Club. After high school, she started her secondary education at Edinboro University in Edinboro, PA and Del-Tech in Dover, DE, where she received her Associates Degree in Accounting; and Wilmington University, where she was pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Human Services. She was a pioneer at MBNA, being the first disabled employee at the Dover campus. Kim was a world traveler, which started at the age of five years old traveling to California alone on the airplane. Every year she traveled by plane, car or boat. Most of her traveling was while she was a quadriplegic. All of the family in California named her the “Golden Child”, that’s because her grandparents worshipped her every smile. She was “Aunt Kim” to everyone, to know her was to love her! Kim was notorious for putting others needs before her own. She loved people, cooking, listening to music, tutoring, event planning but most of all Kim loved the Lord. Kim accepted Christ in her early teens. She was a member of Whatcoat U.M. Church in Dover, DE and later became a member of St. Paul U.M. Church of Milford, DE. Kim leaves to cherish her memories her dedicated parents, Curtis & Eleanor Hamm, Sr.; two sisters, Antonia Swain (Julian) of Goldsboro, NC, Vonda Lynn Hamm of Goldsboro, NC; one brother, Curtis Hamm, II (Sara) of Milford, DE; aunts, Teresa Johnson (William) of Milford, DE and Betty Henry (Charles) of Atlanta, GA; uncles, Norman Brady, Jr. (Ellen) and Reginald Brady both of Milford, DE; two great aunts, Helen Gaffin of San Jose, CA and Dorothy Cooper of Dover, DE. She was raised with her four cousins, with a bond of sisterhood: Terri Franklin, Katrina Wilson and Jana Yancey and the late Sonya Johnson-Sudler.; best friends, Tremene Tripplet, Debra Castille-Hall, Vanessa LaRocca and Sara Manzo; Raydia Johnson-Wildy, Myryah Sorden, Mykaellisha Trotman and Satavia Dillard were four of the chosen young ladies that Kim helped to mentor, mold and love unconditionally into young adults. She will be sadly missed for her encouragement that was given daily to all of them. Kim had a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends that shared this special love.
