Judy Mae Blocksom-Abbott

Judy Mae Blocksom Abbott, born July 4, 1948, to Frederick and Viola Blocksom, peacefully transitioned to her heavenly home on Friday, May 12, 2017, while surrounded by her loving family. It was also on her birthday, in 1992, that she, married Gregory (Tony) Abbott. Judy completed her education at Seaford Senior High School in Seaford, Delaware in 1966. She furthered her education at Delaware State (College) University in Dover, Delaware and later at Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville, Illinois. Judy gave her life to Christ at an early age at East Clarence Street Church of God in Seaford, Delaware. God blessed Judy with the talent of singing at the age of five. Using it to the fullest, she traveled throughout the country as a member of the Gene Martin Trio, along with Gene and Richard Littlejohn. Judy was the ultimate people person, with a huge personality, who never met a stranger. Her sense of humor was unrivaled. That, along with her singing, often got her through her most difficult times. Judy lived and worked in several states, always working in customer-related positions, from Farmers Insurance in Los Angeles, California to her last employment with BP in Alpharetta, Georgia. In 2012, she decided to come back home, moving to Victoria Meadows in Salisbury, Maryland. As her health began to decline, she then became “The Diva” resident at Genesis in Salisbury, Maryland, always entertaining everyone in word and song. She will be sorely missed by all who loved her so dearly. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by the following: sisters Marie Ingram and Betty Cannon, and brothers Otha, Harold, and William Blocksom. Left to cherish her loving memory are her husband, Gregory (Tony) Abbott – Georgetown, DE, her adopted son, Fontaine Nichols (Loretta) – Seaford, Delaware, her sisters: Doris Jenkins (William) – Seaford, DE, JoAnne Gibson – Dover, DE, Mary Burton (Nelson) – Dover, DE, Gail Weal (Timothy) – Seaford, DE, and Joyce Bowers – Dover, DE; her brother, Halvin Blocksom (Pauline) - Wilmington, DE, an aunt, Ruth Matthews; an uncle, Robert David Williams (Lola); an adopted Goddaughter, Tiffany Nichols; an adopted niece, Marva Gardner; a special niece, Tynetta Cannon; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
