Joseph Daniel "Joey" Quick II

Joseph “Joey” Daniel Quick II also known as “Joe”, was a free spirit without a care, an amazing friend, a heartfelt brother and a loving son. Joseph sadly departed this life on November 15, 2020, at the young age of 17, in New Castle, Delaware. Joseph was born on December 15, 2002, in Newark, Delaware, to Kathye and Joe Daniel Quick. As a small child, Joseph was inquisitive, lively and adventurous. At just five years old, he could capture bumble bees in a bug catcher by himself. At a young age, Joey showed no fear. He was courageous, bold and daring. As a child Joey participated in various programs and traveled often with his family. He traveled to Canada, Colorado, New York City, Disney World in Florida, Missouri, Illinois Tennessee, Rehoboth Beach in Delaware and Philadelphia. Joey loved trips with family and enjoyed a change of scenery. During the summer, he went to Camp Tockwogh and to Camp Arrowhead, a Christian overnight camp, where he made friends and gained moral values. Joey played football for St. Margaret of Scotland Parish of Glasgow, Delaware during middle school. Joey continued to play sports during his high school years, first at Delcastle Technical High School, where he was the captain of the freshman football team. After two years, he transferred to Christiana High School to be closer to his friends. Although Joey departed our lives early, he had a full life! He worked, loved and played hard. Joey worked at Green Box Kitchen in Wilmington, Delaware on Market Street and Taco Bell in Bear, Delaware. He got a chance to co-pilot a plane during the Summer Transportation Institute Program at Delaware State University. Joey was the President of Junior Achievement and spearheaded Taji Drip a business program moderated by Brandi Bey Neal and Christina Cultural Arts Center. Joey marketed and modeled male hair accessories. Joey has always had brawn and brains! In his leisure time he liked gaming on Xbox and spending time with friends. Joey balanced all of life’s responsibilities and challenges while being a student at Christiana High School of Newark, DE. Joey was due to graduate May of 2021. Joey is survived by his mother, Kathye Asheyll Quick; father, Joseph Daniel Quick; sister, Taylor Danielle Quick-Smith; brother-in-law, Morgan Tre-mar Smith; nephew, Giovanni Christoph Smith; grandmother, Gwen Watkins; great aunts, Elaine Williams and Dimples; aunts, Kristin Moody and Makeba Walls; uncle, Maskella Walls; and a multitude of cousins whom are a part of the Quick family, the Watkins family and the Walls family.
