Josann Patricia Johnson

Obituary Josann Patricia E. Johnson, 63 of Eden MD. passed away peacefully at Coastal Hospice at the Lake on September 23, 2025. She was born on September 4, 1962 in Salisbury, MD to Joseph Johnson and Julia Ann (Graham) Johnson. Josann received her education through the Wicomico County public school system. Her professional journey included roles at Kmart, Dove Pointe, and Epilepsy Foundation, where she provided compassionate residential care. She later joined MAC, Inc., dedicating over 21 years of service in various capacities. Known for wearing many hats, Josann’s commitment remained steadfast until her retirement in 2023 due to disability. Josann P. Johnson entered into Holy Matrimony with Jean B. St. Val in 1985. Though their marriage later ended in divorce, it was blessed with one son, Gene B. St. Val, Jr. Josann and Jean (Rebbecca) remained friends and devoted co-parents, united in their love for their son. In the years that followed, Josann dedicated herself to her career and family with unwavering commitment. Josann accepted Christ as a teenager, and dedicated her life to God and the ministry. As a young adult she was a member of Cathedral of Deliverance Church in Fruitland, MD. She was a faithful member of 20 years and a drummer, where she was loved by many. Josann was often called JoJo by family and friends. She was a loving and supportive person and was always willing to give of herself by doing whatever she could do. She was very creative and a talented artist, with a niche for carpentry, gathering, organizing and cooking for events and family gatherings. Josann had a joyful spirit and a gift for bringing laughter wherever she went. She loved dressing in festive costumes to celebrate holidays and family gatherings—even at work—always finding creative ways to lift the mood and make others smile. She wore a big smile that was contagious to all she met. When you met her, you would never forget her. She left a lasting impression on family, friends and strangers, young and old alike. That was JoJo. She leaves to mourn: her son, Gene St.Val (Staphany); ex-husband, Jean B St.Val (Rebbecca); five siblings, Edna Parson (Nate), Moses Johnson (Ashley), Priscilla Holbrook (James), Virginia Parker (Thomas) and Joseph Johnson, Jr. and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other extended relatives and friends as well as two dear friends, Cleo Walker of North Carolina and Ardela Deal of Salisbury, MD. Josann was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Johnson and Julia Johnson and one nephew, Dequan White. Josann was loved by many and will be deeply and forever missed.
