John Henry Everett Sr.

JOHN’S LIFE STORY John Henry Everett, Sr., son of the late Jesse Everett and Jesse Bell Everett, was born on Wednesday, October 10, 1934 in Camilla, Georgia. He went on to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Monday, August 26, 2024. “Snap,” as he was affectionately called by family and friends, received his education in the Mitchell County School System in Georgia. Snap immediately went into the work force after completing school. He married the love of his life, the late Edna “Honey” Everett, on Saturday, June 28, 1969. Snap loved riding motorcycles and fishing in his spare time. He also enjoyed traveling and that is how he began working as an over-the-road truck driver. Everyone who met Snap fell in love with his contagious laugh and sweet spirit. Additionally, he enjoyed spoiling his grandchildren. Snap firmly believed that “a man that don’t work, don’t eat.” As a result of this, Snap began working at an early age and instilled in his son and grandson to have a strong work ethic as well. Employed as an over-the-road truck driver, Snap loved driving 18-wheeler tractor trailers across the country. He was also employed as a truck driver and sawyer at Cooper Brothers Lumber Yard and truck driver at Paul Jones Lumber Yard. In addition, he was the personal chauffer for the Paul Jones family. Snap retired from the Wicomico County Landfill where he was widely known and loved by his co-workers and the community. In addition to his parents and his wife, Snap was also preceded in death by: one daughter, Valerie Purnell; sisters, Mattie Hudson, Dora Everett, Lossie Mae Dukes, Gloria Williams, Mary Parker and Ella Everett; brothers, Herman Everett, Willie Everett, Jesse James Everett and Thomas Everett and one great grandchild, Josiah Everett. Snap leaves to cherish unforgettable memories: one son, John (Louise) Everett, Jr. of Salisbury, Maryland; two grandchildren, John (LaToya) Everett III of Salisbury, Maryland and Charity Shockley of Snow Hill, Maryland; three great grandchildren, Journee Everett of Salisbury, Maryland and Tyler Reddick and A’rian Powell, both of Snow Hill, Maryland. Snap also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends whom he loved dearly. SUBMITTED WITH LOVE ~ THE FAMILY
