The Life of Jeanette Carrie Hayman Jeanette Carrie Hayman, a woman of resilience, faith, and unwavering determination, was born on May 2, 1949, in Pocomoke City, Maryland, to the late Carrie Schoolfield and Charles Schoolfield. She transitioned suddenly and peacefully at her home in the early morning hours of April 25, 2026, at the age of seventy-six (76). Jeanette was the beloved matriarch and cornerstone of her family. She possessed a rare gift for offering wisdom, unconditional love, and just the right touch of humor that could ease any burden. Her presence brought comfort, strength, and joy to all who knew her. She received her education through Worcester County Public Schools and entered the workforce shortly after graduating. Over the years, Jeanette made her mark across several industries, including poultry and hospitality, before dedicating decades of service to Rubberset in Crisfield, Maryland, where she remained until her retirement. On December 27, 1984, Jeanette married the love of her life, Robert Hayman. Together, they shared forty-one (41) beautiful years of marriage filled with laughter, devotion, and companionship. Their bond was undeniable—truly two peas in a pod. So deep was their connection that Jeanette’s transition came just thirty-five (35) days after her beloved husband’s passing. Their love story was evident to all who witnessed their playful banter and heartfelt affection. She cherished the simple yet meaningful gestures of love he often expressed through flowers, thoughtful gifts, and small surprises. Jeanette was known for her signature style - her royal blue nails adorned with rings on every finger - and her ability to always present herself with elegance and pride. Each night, she would carefully “bend up” and wrap her hair, ensuring she remained polished whether she had plans or not. Over the years she enjoyed crabbing and savoring her catch, and she never missed an opportunity to gather with family for a cookout, often delighting everyone with her delicious potato salad, seafood salad, or both. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life - watching her favorite television stories, collecting porcelain figurines of cats, dogs, angels, and other cherished keepsakes, and tending to her plants with a gifted green thumb that many believed reflected her nurturing spirit. Jeanette was preceded in death by: her parents, Charles and Carrie Schoolfield; her devoted husband, Robert Hayman; her daughter, Claudette Cropper-Byrd; her son, Malcolm Cropper; her sisters, Margaret Jane Evans, MaryAnn Harmon, and Estella Schoolfield and her brothers, Ernest Schoolfield, Woodrow Schoolfield and Charles Schoolfield. She leaves to cherish her memory: her loving children, daughter, Yvonne Waters of Princess Anne, Maryland and son, Tony Waters (Burlessa) of Frankford, Delaware; one brother, Linwood Schoolfield (Shirley) of Pocomoke, Maryland; daughter-in-law, Leslie Cropper of Salisbury, Maryland; sister-cousin, Ernestine Wise of Pocomoke City, Maryland; twelve (12) grandchildren; a host of great grandchildren as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Jeanette’s legacy of love, strength and family devotion will live in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
