Janice M Warren

Janice M. Warren, daughter of the late Roland and Dorothy Lake, was born on August 27, 1955 in Milford, Delaware. When she was young, she had a competitive spirit. She was quite outspoken and unafraid to defend her point of view. Janice was educated in the Milford School District. As a teen, Janice met and fell in love with the man who would later become her husband. Janice was united in holy matrimony to Willis Warren, Jr. on October 30, 1976. Their friendship of 51 years and marriage of 39 years stood the test of time. Janice was employed for more than 30 years by Conagra Foods. Her most recent employment was as a cook for the Head Start Program in Milford, Delaware. It is from that position that she entered retirement. Janice enjoyed being around people, family and friends. Her sweet demeanor made her easy to talk to and a joy to be around. Her sense of humor was like none other. She could make you laugh with a joke, a story, or just a look. She was good at impersonations. She was a giving person and always willing to lend a helping hand. She was a wise woman who shared her advice with those she loved. She enjoyed cooking. Her specialties were macaroni salad, seafood salad, pork chops and sweet potato pie. She made birthdays for others special by calling them and singing her unique rendition of “Happy Birthday”. In 1994, she gave her life to the Lord. She was a faithful member of Emmanuel Pentecostal Church of God in Camden, Delaware where she was a member of the Inspirational Voices of Faith Choir, the Choral Ensemble, the Pentecostal Choral Ensemble and the Vice President of the Kitchen Ministry. She attended Bible Study regularly and sat faithfully on the right side of the sanctuary. She shared a special relationship with her church family. Through her long illness, her faith was steadfast. On April 27, 2016, God in His in infinite wisdom saw fit to call Janice home to the arms of our Loving Savior. She was preceded in death by her husband, Willis, Jr. and her brother, Alvin Lake. She leaves to cherish her memory two sons, Erick (Erica) and Willis, III; seven siblings, Joyce Lake, James Lake, Latricia Western (Paul), Diane Harris (Austin), Deborah Bagwell (Pete), Bryant Lake (Tara), and Ronald Lake (Shaneka); and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
