Janice Harris

Mrs. Janice Harris was born August 18, 1954 in New Orleans, Louisiana, to Jaltheus Mannery and Ruby Davis. She was a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Jefferson Parish Louisiana where she accepted Christ at an early age. On October 25th 1975 she united in holy matrimony with Cedric David Harris, Sr. and to this union three children were born. Her unwavering support as a mother and the wife of a Military Veteran of the United State Air Force was unprecedented. That support reached to places including Georgia, Philippinies, Washington State, Virginia, Germany, and finally Dover, Delaware. Her passion in life was her love for children. She spent the last eighteen years of her life as a dedicated Home Daycare Provider (The Best in the Business). While serving in this capacity, she attended over 250 hours of Professional Development classes necessary to maintain State and City requirements for certifications. Those classes included Infant and Child CPR Training, An introduction to Motor Development, Toddlers and Beyond and Food Safety. She provided services to over 100 families. She leaves to cherish her memories: her loving husband, Cedric David Harris Sr. of Dover, DE., two daughters and one son. Shannon Selena Harris of Okinawa, Japan; Stephanie Latisha Harris of Waldorf, Maryland; and Cedric (Hirra) David Harris Jr. of Bloomfield, New Jersery. She also leaves two Granddaughters, Symone Antionette Harris, Syara Lael Harris and one unborn Grandson (Jaycion). She was preceded in death by her mother Ruby Davis of Pearl MS. and brother Harry Davis of New Orleans, LA. She is survived by her father Jaltheus Mannery, five sisters and two brothers, Mary (Ronnie) Baker of Wilmington, DE., Doris Mannery of Pearl MS., Karen (Roy) Davenport of New Orleans, LA., Barbara Myers of New Orleans, LA., Sylvia Mannery of Pearl, MS., Kenneth Mannery of New Orleans, LA., Jeff Darryl (Nina) Mannery of New Orleans, LA., in addition to a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends who love and cherish her.
