Jacqueline Sampson

Jacqueline Delores Sampson, affectionately known by her family and close friends as Jackie, passed away unexpectedly on September 30, 2018, at the age of 50. Jackie was born on March 6, 1968, to Bertha Mae Sampson and the late Leonidas Lycurtis Sampson. Jackie was a graduate of South Dorchester High School, Class of 1986. After graduation, she briefly attended the Woodbridge Business School in Salisbury, Maryland. She worked at various establishments in the Baltimore and Cambridge areas. Her last place of employment was the Acme Supermarket in Easton, Maryland. Jackie enjoyed being with family and friends, especially during the holidays. Food and fashion were her passions. She loved to eat, and she especially enjoyed homemade rolls with lots of butter. She was known for always being well-dressed, keeping her eye on the latest style and changing her hair color to compliment the outfit. Jackie loved people. Being with her grandchildren was especially enjoyable. You would often find them entertaining each other by dancing and singing together. Everyone loved Jackie and she left a lasting impression on those she met. She always had a story that would make you laugh. Some of her most cherished times were reminiscing and laughing with the family after always showing up last for the annual Thanksgiving dinner. No matter how much time had passed since you had seen her, Jackie made you feel like you had never been apart. Her beautiful smile will be greatly missed. Jackie knew the Lord’s greatness and His importance in her life. She grew up in the church, attending with her family in her early years. She was baptized at Zorah United Methodist Church in Petersburg, Maryland, and held membership at Hurlock United Methodist Church as an adult. She could often be found reading scriptures and writing her prayers. At the time of her passing, Jackie was working to turn her life around. She was so excited about the purchase of her new car. Jackie was preceded in death by her father; maternal grandparents, Linwood and Emma Hopkins and paternal grandparents, Charles Burkett and Doris Meade. Jackie is survived by her mother; one son, Ja’Bari Omar Sampson of Cambridge, MD; one brother, Leonidas O. Sampson of Denver, CO; one sister, Janelle R. Dawkins (Jibreel) of Onancock, VA; four grandchildren, Jaden, Sa’niya, Va’Brea and Jacob; four half siblings, Gregory, Ellen and Deloris Sampson all of Savannah, GA and Cedric Sampson of Yamessee, SC; a very special friend, James E.
