Jacqueline’s Life Story Jacqueline “Jackie” Carter Spence unexpectedly departed this life on Friday, September 23, 2022. Jackie was born in Salisbury, Maryland on June 24, 1965, and was the daughter of the late Ollie M. Carter and Charles Henry Williams. Jackie was the baby of the family and came into this world with laughter, smiles, and lots of love. She was a friend to everyone and she never met a stranger. She grew up in Fruitland, Maryland, attended both Fruitland Schools and graduated from Parkside High School in 1984. There she played on the basketball team and was on the track team as well. She was one who loved life and having a good time, Jackie enjoyed crabbing, eating crabs, making you laugh, going on annual cruises and taking trips to Florida each year. You could always count on her to bring joy to any situation. She was a committed member of St. John’s House of Deliverance and faithfully served on the Voices of Praise Choir, the Pastor’s Aide Committee and the Kitchen Committee, where she was called “the Cafeteria Lady.” She was a true missionary because whenever someone at work or in the community experienced a loss, she could be counted on to buy cards, collect money and show her love for them by cooking and delivering meals to their families. She was also a member of the Fruitland Friends and Family Committee. Jackie was a committed employee at Salisbury University (SU) where she enjoyed interacting with the students and made life-long friends with her co-workers. She retired from SU in 2021 after working there for over 20 years. Jackie will lovingly be remembered by: her husband, Timmy Spence; two children, Ashley and Derell Cottman; her father, Charles H. Williams; sisters, Diane Atkins (Alex), Patricia Butler (James), Ruby Brown, Faye Bivens and Carla Blake (Odell); brothers, Daryl Carter, Lawrence Carter, and Johnnie Carter (Anne) and ten grandchildren, two of whom she lovingly raised, Damire and Amirea Cottman. She also will be remembered by loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and her very special friends, Regina Moye, Candie Polk, and special cousin Stephanie Harris. In addition to her mother, she was also preceded in death by her maternal and paternal grandparents, aunts, uncles, nieces, and brother, Dominick Carr, Sr. Lovingly Submitted ~ The Family
