Herbert Lee White

After sixty-one years of life, Herbert Lee White transitioned to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 9, 2020, at home surrounded by his eldest son, Damion, along with a host of other family members he truly adored and loved. Herbert was born on Saturday, June 21, 1958, in Kingstree, South Carolina, to the late Blease and Essie White, Sr., of Lane, South Carolina. He attended Milford High School in Milford, Delaware. Herbert showed an interest in the autobody industry during his high school years, and as a student at Sussex County Vocational and Technical School, he demonstrated exemplary skills, which proved to be the gateway to his career as an Autobody Technician. Although Herbert worked for several companies, he was most proud of becoming self-employed in this industry. In addition to his love of cars, Herbert was a self-taught drummer; he truly enjoyed playing drums at church and welcomed any opportunity to do so with much enthusiasm. Herbert embarked upon this passion, first as a member of Byrd A.M.E. Church and later in his life, when he attended Divine Empowerment Christian Church in Smyrna, Delaware. In his spare time, Herbert would often volunteer to take on tasks where he upholstered furniture and served as a handyman, undertaking projects that were often complex. Herbert also enjoyed watching football and loved the San Francisco 49ers. He had a warm spirit and a contagious smile. Overall, he was a kindhearted person who will be genuinely missed by his family. Herbert was preceded in death by his parents, Blease, Sr. and Essie White; a sister, Patricia A. Saini; and two brothers, Joseph White, and Blease White, Jr. He leaves to cherish his memories, two sons, Damion Duker of Dover, DE, and Robert White, of Houston, DE; one daughter, Monica White of Felton, DE; twelve grandchildren, Deavion Duker, Alexander Green White, Bruce Harmon, Jordyn Holloman, Champion Nichols, Charisma Nichols, Jamar Nichols, Jr., Ioyanna Ross, Eli Russ, Jasmine Tyndall, Alexis Vonso and Aaliyah White; four brothers, Herbert Lee Shaw (Nedra) of Decatur, GA, Raymond White (Sherry) of Ellendale, DE, Kenneth R. White of Ellendale, DE, and Solomon White (Marilyn) of Dagsboro, DE; four sisters, Theadora White of Dover, DE, Thelma R. Dixon (Philip) of Felton, DE, Velma R. White-Blount (Wesley) of Dover, DE, and Falishia R. Callwood (Keith) of Dover, DE. Herbert also leaves to cherish his memories, a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Additionally, there were several special people in Herbert’s life such as special cousins; Wayne White of Dover, DE, Wayne White of Laurel, DE and Willie White of Dover, DE; and special friends, Matt Gibbs of Bridgeville, DE, Teresa Tier of Dover, DE and Bernard Williams, Sr., of Smyrna, DE.
