Helen Pearlbell Sidney

OBITUARY Helen P. Sidney went to sleep on November 21, 2024, in her home at the age of eighty-eight (88). She was the daughter of the late Annie and Albert Reynolds. Helen was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and educated in the Philadelphia school system. Helen was a dedicated homemaker. She worked at various jobs but her most skillful employment was as a seamstress, a profession at which she excelled. Helen loved to draw and was a master at crocheting, knitting, patch work quilts and crafting ceramics. Those who were blessed with the benefits of her craft still love to display them. She loved gardening, a hobby of which she was proud and continued to do so until about a couple years ago. Helen did volunteer work at nursing homes and made lap blankets for the residents. She was honored with a citation for Volunteer of the Year for the state of Maryland. She was also a great storyteller and her stories kept us in awe when she told them. They were mostly about how God intervened in her life. Helen was a faithful member of the Seventh Day Adventist Reform Church. She studied and prayed daily. She taught vacation Bible school for several years and those who were blessed to have her as a teacher still talk about how vacation Bible school enriched or changed their lives. In her life’s work, Helen passed out books and various literature. She also spread the word of the health message and holistic medicine. Helen met and married Robert L. Sidney and they were together for sixty (60) years. Their twelve (12) children are a combination of yours, mine and ours. Helen’s memory will be cherished by: her husband, Robert L. Sidney; their children, Diane (Mike), Djaka-Dingiswayo (Cheryl), Frederick (Betty), Lamont, Regina (Terry), Robert, Jr. (Laticia), Romona (Leonard), Tange, Terry (Samantha), Timothy (Divine) and Uhura-Makeba (Travis); honorary daughters, Sally, Mildred and Melinda; honorary son, Mark; sisters, Elizabeth Clark (Douglas), Gloria Gray (Herbert) and Veronica Reynolds; brothers, Albert Reynolds (Jackie) and Frank Reynolds; forty (40) plus grandchildren; twenty (20) plus great grandchildren and several great great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. Helen was preceded in death by her son, Anthony and three brothers, James, Moses and Henry Reynolds. `SUBMITTED WITH LOVE ~ THE FAMILY
