Gregory Louis Lofland

Gregory Louis Lofland, fondly known as “Greg” was born on April 26, 1955, in Federalsburg, Maryland to John Lofland and the late Eleanora Ricketts. He passed away peacefully on July 21, 2026, in Salisbury, MD, surrounded by family. He was a devoted husband, a wonderful father, loving brother, proud veteran, and a source of laughter, endless stories, and wisdom to all who knew him. After graduating from Colonel Richardson High School he answered the calling to serve his country, enlisting in the United States Air Force for over 20 years, retiring as a Staff Sergeant in 1995. A veteran of Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm, he proudly served as an Aircraft Loadmaster for 15 years and as an Information Management Journeyman for 5 years. He met the love of his life, Cynthia Saragcon when stationed at the Clark Air Force Base. He was awarded the Aerial Achievement Medal, the Combat Readiness Medal, and the Kuwait Liberation Medal among others throughout his career. After his service, he and Cynthia continued to travel all over the world, from Germany, to California, to Florida, and finally settling in Maryland. Greg loved to bowl, shoot pool, play games, watch movies, and work on his “mancave” at their home in Salisbury, MD. Greg loved cooking up delicious meals and sharing them with friends and family. He loved to catch up with everyone with a phone call or message. Greg was a man who woke up every morning and thanked God for letting him wake up to see another beautiful day. He leaves to honor and celebrate his life his beloved wife, Cynthia Saragcon Lofland of Salisbury, MD; daughters Aaliyah Roschell Lofland of Silver Spring, MD, Myleah Michelle Lofland of Silver Spring, MD, Niah Louise Minott of Smyrna, DE, Nicole Rowles of Upper Marlboro, MD, and Chawntel Lofland of Baltimore, MD; his father John Lofland II (Irene) his brothers Michael James Lofland (Denise), John Lofland III of Dover, and sisters, Cassandra Lofland-Lebron (Nathaniel) and Jeanel Lofland; a maternal uncle William H. Ricketts (Betty) of Ridgely, MD, a maternal aunt Estella Ricketts of Seaford, DE, grandsons Khiry Sudler (Tahliah) of Reno, NV, Nature Minott of Smyrna, DE, Kamonte’ Franklin, Keyonte Bowden, Ke’Chawn Mitchell, granddaughters Harmony Minott, Milan Taylor Hill, and Sheara Nunnally, 6 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and loved ones. He was preceded in death by his mother Eleanora Ricketts and sister Lynn Ricketts. Greg will be remembered for his warmth, his humor, and his unwavering devotion to the people he loved. He had a gift for making everyone around him feel like they mattered - with a joke, a story, or a home-cooked meal. Greg always believed in God, hard work, in showing up, and in leading rather than following, and he passed those values on to his family. Above all, he loved fiercely and lived fully, leaving behind a high-flying legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories that will carry on in the hearts of all who knew him.
