Gladys A. Seals

Gladys Amanda Tecora Gibbs Seals was born on March 21, 1929 in Marydel, MD to the late William Walter and Emma Victoria Wilkerson Gibbs. She was the eighth of 13 children. She went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 21, 2016. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 60 years, Percy William (Bill) Seals, one grandson Deandre Garris, five brothers; Ralph, Emory, Homer, Garfield & John and five sisters; Margaret, Florence, Jessie, Merna, and Lillian. On August 19, 1950, she was united in Holy Matrimony to Percy William Seals. From this union six children were born. William Vaughn, John Garfield, Dinah Victoria, Jervis Wayne, Vanette Tecora, and Senta Lorray. She graduated at the top of her class from Lockerman High School in Denton, Maryland and was proud to be a member of the Class of 1946. Gladys gave her life to Christ at an early age. She was a member of St. Daniels United Methodist church and served as a Lay speaker, Women Society, Sunday School Superintendent, and Choir member for over 30 years. In 1993 Gladys became Evangelist Gladys Seals after joining Community Baptist Church. She was a devoted Charter member until her health began to fail. She continued to be an Evangelist until she went home shouting with the Lord. You would always see Gladys clapping her hands, shouting, and lifting her hands to the Lord. Gladys was a housewife and even though she was legally blind she was the back bone of her husband’s trucking business that they owned for over twenty years. She loved baking cakes, pies, rolls, and making homemade root beer. Gladys loved all the children in Barclay and never turned away any of them from eating at her house. She was affectionately called Mom Mom Gladys or Aunt Gladys. She leaves to cherish her memory William Vaughn Seals (Wanda), John Garfield Seals (Carolyn), Dinah Victoria Ashley, Jervis Wayne Seals (Linda), Vanette Tecora Seals, and Senta Lorray Warren; 15 grandchildren: Kadina, Tyshia, Cassandra (William), Dekia, Vernon (Nailah), Shawkita (Glenn), Sharina (Stacy), John (Krisann), Tamika (Tyray), Lakira, Devin, Dimere, Chrishyra, Cassius and Kytrae; 13 great-grandchildren, Terry, Monte, Vernisha, Tierra, Vernon, DeJour, Starr, Lakirar, VéJon, Jordan, Veonté, Jazmine and Janae; three great-great grandchildren, DaiQuan, Sariya and DaiShaun, two sisters, Joyce Seals (Oscar) and Virginia Johnson; one sister-in-law, Evalena Burke (Robert); and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and affectionately known as her two oldest daughters, Joyce Seals and Ursula Ward.
