Geraldine Elizabeth Adams

Obituary Geraldine Adams, affectionately known to all as “Gerald”, departed this life at the age of eighty-three (83) on January 15, 2026, at Tidal Health in Seaford, Delaware. She was the daughter of the late Elder William Wesley Sampson and Clara Elizabeth Sampson. Born October 12, 1942, she attended Dorchester County Public Schools, graduating in 1960 from Maces Lane High School in Cambridge, Maryland. Gerald was employed at several businesses throughout the area. She worked at Bumble Bee Tuna in Cambridge, Maryland until its closing; Allen Harim Foods in Cordova, Maryland; Amick Farms in Hurlock, Maryland; and Hardee’s in Seaford, Delaware. Her last employment was with the senior centers in Seaford and Bridgeville, Delaware where she spent most of her time assisting clients. Gerald was well known for her baking skills which she learned from her mother. She made really good applesauce cakes, but it was her coconut cake that her family loved and wanted at Christmas. She loved making sweet potato pies for friends. Shopping was also something that she loved. When she was on the phone and heard about a sale, she had to go right away. Carolyn Jones was her road partner and traveled with her on many outings and trips as well as to various events. Gerald loved going on bus trips to Atlantic City, New Jersey, playing Bingo in the community room at her apartment complex, and watching Westerns. Gerald had a dry sense of humor; would say funny things and not crack a smile. She had a giving heart and you could feel the warmth and genuineness of her heart. She was a good mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Gerald is survived by her daughters, Tamiko Nelson and Vonya Adams and son, Marcus Sampson. Additionally, she is survived by: ten grandchildren, Tony Franco, Tavon Adams, Chad Crockett, Destini Crockett, Johnasia Adams, Shavonda Adams, Jakiya Adams, Jada Adams, Davion Adams and Nasir Adams as well as six great-grandchildren. Gerald is also survived by one sister, Margaret Sampson, sister-in-law, Evelyn Sampson and brother-in-law, Lewis Harris as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, John Adams, Jr., two brothers, Leon Sampson and Wendell Sampson and three sisters, Geneva Sampson, Mary Agnes Sampson and Earlene Sampson.
