Fayola Gilda Bailey

The sunset on Sunday, February 09, 2014 for Fayola G. Bailey: Affectionately known as “Fay”, Fayola was born on May 28, 1949 to Phyllis and Gilbert Bivens. Fayola’s education began with Dames Quarter Elementary School, continued through Somerset High School, and ended with her finally graduating from Wilmington High School. Fay furthered her education by attending and graduating from Harford Community College in Aberdeen, Maryland. In 1970 Fay reunited with an old flame, Marcus Bailey. After a “whirlwind relationship” the two were married on September 6, 1970. During this time, Marcus was an enlisted soldier in the United States Army. Together the two traveled across Europe and the United States for the next twenty years. In 1991, they returned to Salisbury, Maryland. As a childcare provider for both Wise Beginnings and Peninsula Regional Medical Center, Fayola touched the lives of countless children. As a spiritual leader, under the guidance of Bishop Matthew Brown, she ministered to the hearts and spirits of the devoted congregation of Victory Faith Worship Center. Fay also fellowshipped with the loving worshippers of Delmarva Evangelistic Church. Fay loved traveling, camping, computer games, and heated arguments with Fox News. Always the listener but quick to voice her opinion, Fay was a wealth of wisdom and life experiences. Her love and devotion to her family were only matched by her faith and love to her God and Father. Fayola G. Bailey is survived by her husband of 43 years, Marcus Bailey and her two children Shanna Bailey and Marcus Bailey, II; one daughter-in-law Jana Bailey; four grandchildren, Ashley Jones, Noah-James Bailey, Marissa-Lee Bailey and Avery Marie Bailey; her brother Heath Buren; three sisters, Lynnel Bivens, Robin Buren and Tracy Buren; one uncle Jeffery “Butch” Jones; two aunts, Sylvia Jones and Jackolee Bivens-Balto; two brothers-in-law, Isaac “Jr.” and Fortune Bailey; six sisters-in-law, Valerie and Juanita Bailey, Laura Copeland, Lucille White, Jannette Colman and Lorraine Bailey; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
