Ethel Marie Fletcher

On November 25th, 2015, the Lord called Ethel home to rest. The Lord sent angels down to give Ethel her well-earned wings at the age of 82. The Lord said, no more pain, no more suffering, just the endless serenity of joy, peace and love. Ethel Marie Fletcher was born in Hurlock, MD on February 18, 1933. She was the daughter of the late Charley and Catherine Parker of Hurlock, MD. As a teenager, she attended F. D. Sinclair High School, nurtured her younger brothers and worked on the farm. At the age of 16, she met the love of her life, Lester Fletcher. Upon graduation at the age of 18, she moved to Baltimore City to be with her love and soulmate, Lester. In 1951, they were joined in matrimony. Ethel established employment immediately after moving to Baltimore, working as a laborer for 20 years with Premium Bag Company. She later retired at the age of 65 from Jenkins Memorial. Ethel’s passion was family first. She loved her son, siblings, nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws. Whenever she visited Hurlock, she made it her business to visit as many people as she could. If someone was sick, she was always there to help in any way she could. While in Baltimore, she expanded her family through wonderful neighbors and friends. She was lovingly known as “MOM” by all the neighborhood kids. Her second passion was fashion. Ethel loved to shop and took great pride in dressing to impress. She never left the house unless “Everything was in Order”. Ethel also attended Christ United Methodist Church of Baltimore with her husband, Lester and was a lifelong member of Hurlock United Methodist Church. She was preceded in eternal life by husband, Lester Fletcher; siblings, Emma Spry, Rose Lee Mapp, Alfred “Pet” Parker, Roger Parker and lifelong friend, Thelma Jordan Crosby “Cousin Sis”. She is survived by her son, Blair “Anthony” Moody of Washington, DC; brothers, Charles Parker, Jr. of Federalsburg, MD, Tindley Parker of Hurlock, MD and Douglas Parker of Baltimore, MD; special nieces, Delphine Slaughter of Hurlock, MD, Lametha Elbert of Preston, MD and Maria Brooks of Jonesboro, GA; god–daughter, Audrey Lomax of Baltimore, MD; and a host of wonderful nieces and nephews.
