Eleith Rosetta Barrett

Eleith R. Barrett passed away on February 24, 2018, at the age of 86. Eleith was born on Tuesday, June 30th, 1931, in Port Antonio, Portland Jamaica, to the late Steven and Imogene Buchanan. She lived a portion of her life in Kingston before moving to Montego-Bay Jamaica. Over the years, when her mother became ill, Eleith returned to Kingston to take care of her ailing mother. Eleith attended public schools in Jamaica and after graduating, she worked as a dressmaker, and later started a family. In 1986, she migrated to Boston, Massachusetts, to start a new chapter in life, which ultimately led to her filing for her spouse and children, bringing them to live with her in Boston. Eleith worked at Boston Medical center from 1986 – 1997, where she later medically retired. Eleith loved the Lord and her church and faithfully attended on Sundays. She actively participated at her church home, where she served as a board member and in various other church ministries and activities. In Boston, she attended Dorchester Immanuel Church of the Nazarene, upon moving to Delaware she attended Pentecostal Family Church. She was a loving and kind woman who gave of herself to others, a great story teller, and was known to crack a few jokes here and there. She was a big part of the Vocational Bible School and would always make sure she took care of the children by bringing them her home baked pastries and drinks. For fun, Eleith enjoyed travelling, watching Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune, shopping and doing dramatic plays. She has been to the Virgin Islands, England, Canada, and several places around the United States. “Ms. Tiny” or “Mama”, as she was affectionately known, is survived by her spouse, Frank; sons, Denzel and his wife Velta, Norris, Owen and wife Kimberly, Steve and wife Sharon; daughters, Ilet, Novellette and husband Walton, and Michelle and her husband Javed; 22 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; brothers, Dr. Relva Buchanan, Culvar and Aubrey Buchanan; sister, Loretta Buchanan-Robinson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and so many others who loved her.
