Earl James Mitchell Jr.

The Life Journey of Earl James Mitchell, Jr. Earl James Mitchell, Jr., also known as “Bill”, was born in Quantico, Maryland to the late Earl James Mitchell, Sr. and Gladys Pearl Dixon Mitchell on July 30, 1944. He unexpectedly transitioned to glory at the age of seventy-eight (78) in Salisbury, Maryland on November 25, 2022. Bill, as he preferred to be called, received his education in the Wicomico County school system and early Christian training at Mount Zion United Methodist Church in Quantico, Maryland. There, he was a life long member, presently under the leadership of Reverend Keith Cornish. Bill was a good steward in his church, serving as a trustee, usher, and member of the Methodist Men’s Choir. Earl was soft spoken, always willing to offer a helping hand and would give his last to anyone in need. He had his own free cab service and could get into situations that would scare the life out of the average person, like riding down the highway, hitting a curb, busting all four tires and nothing would ever seem to phase him. When asked what happened, his favorite words were, “I don’t know.” He loved playing cards with his lifelong friend Tom Boy and other friends. He also loved working on cars and attending vintage car shows. He formerly worked at JV Will’s Lumber Company in Sharptown, Maryland. Following their closing, he worked at Sam’s Club as a gas station attendant. Those who are left to cherish unforgettable memories are: his lovely companion, Regina Lawrence; one son, Denetric “Tracy” Mitchell of Baltimore, Maryland; one daughter, Solestine (Timothy) Gates of Salisbury, Maryland; three granddaughters, Timeka, Tina and Towanda; four great grandchildren, Marcus and Isaiah Boone, Tamia Simms, and America Scarborough; two brothers, Orlando Mitchell of Baltimore, Maryland and Kenneth Mitchell of Quantico, Maryland; two sisters, Lula (Minister Jesse) Ballard of Quantico, Maryland and Thelma Mitchell of Baltimore, Maryland; one devoted niece, Felecia Mitchell of Hebron, Maryland and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, friends and the extended Lawrence family. Those who await Earl’s arrival in glory are his parents, Gladys and Earl Mitchell Sr., his sister, Hettie Mitchell and nephew, Stanley Mitchell, Jr. LOVINGLY SUBMITTED ~ THE FAMILY
