Dorothy Lee Palmer (Conway)

Dorothy Lee Conway-Palmer, affectionately known as “Dot”, passed away on Saturday, March 10, 2018 at Bayleigh Chase Nursing Home in Easton, Maryland. She was 78. Dot was born April 30, 1939, in Dorchester County, to the late Ella Cephas and Franklin Conway, Sr. She was educated in the Dorchester County Public School System. Dot was employed by John N. Wright Cannery, Caroline Poultry and numerous farmers in Caroline and Dorchester counties as a Field Contractor. She was also a home child care provider during the off seasons. Dot had many hobbies that she loved including, watching soap operas, drinking Pepsi Cola’s, digging in her ear with a feather, completing word search and crossword puzzles, playing cards and riding. But most importantly, she enjoyed being a homemaker. Her passion was to be at home spoiling her grandchildren and other kids which were left in her care. Dot was joined in holy matrimony to Clarence Wilmer Palmer and from this union, two daughters were born into a combined family of seven daughters and four sons. Dot was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a brother, Franklin Conway, Jr.; sisters, Annie Mae Parker and Mary Rachel Thomas; children, Deborah, Terry and Brian Palmer, Valerie Turner-Dawson, and Vinetta and Doretta Conway; sisters-in-law, Shirley Batson, Joyce Johnson and Flossie Conway; brothers-in-law, James Parker, Charles Batson and James Palmer; son-in-law, Kenneth Sparks; grandsons, Terrance Palmer and Antonio Conway; and granddaughter, Phylica Sparks. Dot leaves to cherish her memory, her children, five daughters, Lynette Conway, Geraldine Conway, both of Hurlock, MD, Belinda “Cookie” Sparks of Federalsburg, MD, Brenda Palmer-Sampson (Rayfield) of Cambridge, MD, and Carla Palmer-Berdaux (Alvin) of Hurlock, MD; two sons, Adam “Bird” Conway of Hurlock, MD and Carlton George of Federalsburg, MD; three sisters-in-law, Doris Ann Batson of Seaford, DE, Diane Palmer of Federalsburg, MD and Dorothy A. Palmer of Easton, MD; four brothers-in-law, Henry Thomas of Hurlock, MD, Walter Palmer of Easton, MD, George Batson of Cambridge, MD and Henry Johnson of Bridgeville, DE; 29 grandchildren; 72 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
