Claude Lewis

Claude Thomas Lewis, affectionately known as “Tommy Tucker”, 74, of Salisbury, Maryland, entered eternal rest at home on Saturday, July 19, 2025. He was born on June 24, 1951, in Pocomoke City, Maryland, to the late Naomi “Jackie” Lewis Brown and Roland Downing. Tommy’s strong work ethic and dedication led him to positions at Purity Bacon, PGH—now known as Tidal Health—and Shore Up, Inc. On October 13, 1986, he made his family proud by joining the Maryland State Police, where he served with honor out of the Berlin “V” Barracks. A man of many passions, Tommy especially loved jazz music, with the Hampton Jazz Festival in Hampton, Virginia, holding a special place in his heart. He was also an avid motorcycle enthusiast who looked forward each year to the Blessing of the Bikes with Pastor Lewis Reed of St. James Free Methodist Church in Quantico, Maryland. Tommy cherished spending time with his extended family in Pocomoke City, enjoying the company of Hattie Mae, Sheila, Eremine, Charles, Michael, Richard, Spencer, William, and Maurice. He was preceded in death by his mother, Naomi “Jackie” Lewis Brown; his father, Roland Downing; his maternal grandparents, John Spencer Lewis and Harriett Ann Harmon Lewis; his brother, Anthony Downing; his grandson, James A. Brown Jr.; and his great-grandson, Malachi K. Watkins. Tommy leaves behind a loving legacy through his four children: Bryant Crosell of Delmar, Delaware; Andrea Lewis Brown of Laurel, Delaware; Crystal Brinson (Reuben) of Fruitland, Maryland; and Cedric Lewis (Makaila) of Benson, Arizona. He was a proud grandfather to eight grandchildren: KyShon Watkins, Diandra Milbourne, Jeremiah Brown, Rushaun Milbourne, Isaiah Brown, Harmony Paterson, Roman Lewis, and Ric’Kai Lewis; and great-grandfather to KyShon Watkins Jr. He is also survived by his brothers, Dennis Lewis and Raymond Lewis; his sisters, Claudia Lewis and Marcella Brown; his beloved companion, Valerie Edwards; and dear friends Aaron McCray, Teddy Jones, Mac Carrigan, and Yancy Carrigan—as well as a host of cousins and lifelong friends. Tommy will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
