Clarie Fortt

Clarie Fortt, of Salisbury, Maryland, was born in Stapleton, Georgia to Bennie and Gladys Mills. When Clarie and her twin Marie were 3 months the family relocated to Girdletree, Maryland, then to Quantico, Maryland shortly thereafter. Through her teenage years she spent most of her time with her Aunt Eva , her mother's sister, and Uncle James Holland. In her early twenties she moved to Newark, New Jersey with her two young children, Val and PeeWee. She lived in New Jersey for close to three with her sister, Emma Sturgis. She eventually settled in Salisbury in. She garnered employment at Salisbury Nursing Home where she was Nursing Assistant. In 1970’s, she married Charles Smith and to this union a baby girl was born, Phyllis. She later married Reuben Fortt and a fourth child, Brandon, was born. She attended Wor- Wic Tech Community College. She received training in Office Administration. After receiving various certifications and license, she assumed a job at Salisbury Airport with Grummand Airplane Parts and Supply Company as a parts clerk and receptionist. She later went on to work with the Salisbury Housing Authority, as The Acting Deputy Director she worked here from her retirment. Clarie loved reading. She could read several books in a few days time. She also loved to draw and paint. She also enjoyed puzzles, board games, card games and computer games. She especially loved games where family would visit to play and compete. She cherished her times playing a popular game with her twin all the way up until her untimely passing. Preceding Clarie in death are: Her Husband; Rueben Fortt, Daughter; Valerie Mills, Mother: Gladys Mills, Sisters; Dorothy Coleman-Bowers, Emma Wessells, Lucille Fortt, Brother; James Mills, Aunt & Uncle, Eva and James Holland. Loving family members cherishing her memory are: Her children; Daughter; Phyllis A. Smith of Salisbury, Maryland, Sons; Elder Robert A. Sturgis of Tampa, Florida, Brandon C. Fortt and wife Candace. Grand children: Markee Dashiell Davion Dashiell Jajuan Smith Jathan Douglass Avery Fortt, Sister Marie Hutchins, A host of Great-grandchildren, Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and other Sorrowing relatives and Friends.
