Clara F Fisher

CLARA’S LIFE AND LEGACY Clara Frances Fisher, beloved daughter of the late Charlie and Audrey Dix, was born on April 28, 1932 in Parksley Virginia. She was called home to her eternal rest on Monday, March 25, 2024 at Hartley Hall Nursing and Rehab Center in Pocomoke City, Maryland. Clara was affectionately called Mom, Mom Mom, Clara Frances, Miss Claire, Clairsee, and Claree to all who knew her. Clara’s early years were lived in Parksley, Virginia with her parents and five siblings. At the age of eight, the family moved to Snow Hill, Maryland. Clara told stories of how she thought they were moving to a place that had a big hill with snow on it. She received her formal education in Worcester County. It was during her late teen years that she met and eventually married her first husband, Walter Brittingham. Their union brought forth four children. Clara eventually met her second husband, Willard James Fisher, while working at Buddy Boys’ Poultry in Snow Hill, Maryland. They were inseparable; where you saw one you saw the other. Whether it was at a flea market or riding through the countryside, they were always together. They remained this way for over fifty (50) years until he was called home in June of 2020. Clara loved to laugh and was always complimented on her beautiful smile. She was the “life of the party.” She was a light wherever she went. She loved children and through the years, became a regular baby sitter and second mother to many in her family and community. Everyone remembers “Miss Clara” or “Aunt Clara” or Aunt Clare as someone who took care of them. She was an avid reader of murder mystery books and read her newspaper daily without fail. She loved to encourage all her children and grandchildren to receive their education as it was very important to her. She took tremendous pride in her appearance as she was always seen wearing her jewelry, makeup and her favorite scent, which was White Diamonds perfume. She leaves the following to cherish her memories, love, laughter and spirit forevermore: two daughters, Lily Green of Salisbury, Maryland and LaSharon Cousar (Tony) of Pocomoke City, Maryland; two sons, Bobby Brittingham of Norristown, Pennsylvania and Walter Brittingham, Jr. of Cambridge, Maryland; one god-daughter, Sherri Church of Salisbury, Maryland; grandsons, Joseph Drummond II, Tony Drummond, Craig Tilghman, and Bobby Brittingham, Jr.; granddaughters, Nicole Collick, Christy Brittingham, Talisha McNair, Michelle Green and Jewel McKelvin; one sister, Dellaphine Johnson of Baltimore, Maryland; thirteen great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends. Preceding her in death were: her parents; her husband; two sons, Donald Brittingham and Willard Fisher, Jr.; two sisters, Novella Taylor and Mable Watson and two brothers, Willie Dix and Walter Dix.
