Carrie H Brown

Carrie H. Brown was born June 3, 1922 to the late Osceola and Leola Hankins. She quietly answered God’s call Thursday, Dec. 15, 2016 at Westminster Presbyterian Senior Living Center, in Dover, DE. She was united in holy matrimony to the late Oscar E. Brown in 1957. They shared a wonderful life together and produced three amazing identical triplet girls born June 16, 1959, Veronica Brown, Vergie Benton (John Benton) and Vernetta Foxe (Stanley Foxe). Prior to her marriage to the late Oscar Brown, she was married to the late Eli McCrimmon. They produced two children, Barbara Jean McCrimmon (Mack) who preceded her in death and Eli Vanda McCrimmon (Mary Ann). Carrie received her education in the New Hanover County School System. In her youth, she accepted Christ and joined the St. Luke AME Church in Wilmington, NC. In March 2011, Veronica brought her mother to Dover, DE to live with her. In mid June 2011, Carrie became a resident of Westminster Presbyterian Senior Living Center. She was loved by everyone there. She was a gentle, soft spoken woman who said what she meant and meant what she said. Mom loved the services provided weekly at Westminster. She would join in and sing and participate in prayer. Her most enjoyable times were when she was with her daughters and grandchildren. She would light up when seeing them. She loved riding in the car and having dinners at her daughters. She also enjoyed talking on the phone with her son Eli and daughter-in-law Mary Ann. She enjoyed looking “Fly” and dressing from head to toe. We are giving God the praise for blessing us with 94 years of her unconditional love, wisdom, joy and courage she provided to the family and friends. The family would like to acknowledge special people in mom’s life. James Eddie from Florida, who mom viewed as a second son. Most holidays, Eddie would visit his family in Wilmington, NC, and always surprised mom and took her to the movies and to eat at her favorite seafood restaurant. To Rev. Aaron and Anna Briggs Moore: Anna Briggs and mom grew up together in Wilmington, NC,. and they remained friends until mom’s departure from this earth. To Jethro Williams and the late Anna Briggs Williams: Thank you for helping take care of the Brown triplets during and after college at DSU while mom was in NC, To Pam Pinkett: Thank you for keeping mom’s hair looking sharp. Mom always looked forward to getting her hair done. To John Benton: For picking mom up and bringing her to her daughters for holiday dinners. To the Westmister family: For the past five years, Westmister provided care, love and support to our mother. To nurse Marta, nurse Terry, nurse Kathy, CNA’s KeeKee, Odayo, Eduine and Kathleen: Thank you for the special care you provided mom during her stay at Westmister. Mom leaves a host of grandchildren; Marlon Durant, Tracy Mack, Shaunte Jennings (Jason), Dante Daniel, Whitney Carr, Elika McCrimmon, Angela Williams (Galley).
