Camilla M Williams

Camilla Marlene Burris-Williams (57) went home to be with the Lord on May 31, 2016, at the Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury, MD. She was born on July 31, 1958, in Milford, DE to the late George Calvin Burris and the late Marlene Christine Burris-Griffith. She was the fourth born out of three daughters and five sons. Camilla was educated in the Lake Forest School District, and graduated from Lake Forest High School, Felton, DE. She received a Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education from Chaney State University, PA. After graduation, she pursued her career as Special Education teacher in the Lake Forest School District, and also the Caesar Rodney School District. She retired from teaching in 2006, but continued to substitute teach in the Lake Forest and Seaford school districts. Early in life Camilla received Jesus as her personal Savior. She loved the Lord with all her heart, and was always willing to share the Good News of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. She was a faithful member of St. James Union AME Church, Frederica, DE, since the age of twelve. She served in the following capacities: Evangelist, Steward, Finance Committee, church school teacher, Christian Education, choir member, and assistant teacher of class #2. Camilla served as secretary of the Dover District Evangelists, and she was a member of the Delaware Conference Department of Evangelism. She attended classes under the Delaware Conference Ministerium for Class Leader & Evangelists. She was also a bereavement volunteer for the Delaware Hospice in Dover. Camilla was a loving wife, mother and proud Mom Mom who was always willing to lend a helping hand. She was a compassionate person who would always look out for others well-being before herself. She enjoyed life to the fullest, spending time with family and friends, eating and especially drinking her coffee. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ervin Williams; her parents and grandparents; brothers, Orlando and Lauren Burris and her son, Jermaine Burris. She leaves to cherish her loving memory her son, Justin Alkainail Burris (Clarissa), of Fort Polk, LA; her daughter, Orlandra Beatrice Burris, of Seaford, DE; her siblings: Sheila Moore, of Felton, DE, Catherine Jackson (Eric), of Viola, DE, Calvin Burris, of Houston, DE, Bryant Burris, of Felton, DE and Stanley Burris (Mary), of Williamsburg, VA; four aunts: Delema Carter, of Felton, DE, Michelle Dorsey, of Smyrna, DE, Creola Burris, of Milford, DE and a great-aunt, Rachael Thorpe, of Chester, PA; three uncles: Dr. Noah Thorpe (Beverly), of Malvern, PA, DeWitt Thorpe, of Philadelphia, PA, Herman Mosley, Sr., of Felton, DE; two grandchildren: Haleigh Burris, and Braydin Burris; a special cousin, Vernell Thorpe, of Chester, PA; one godson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
