Betty Ruth Mitchell

Betty Ruth Mitchell was born on September 2, 1948 in Elba, Alabama to the late Clyde Mitchell, Sr. and E. Ida West. She departed this life on Tuesday, September 26, 2017 at home. She received her formal education in the public schools of Elba, Alabama as well as Wicomico County, Maryland. She graduated from high school in Elba, Alabama, Class of 1966. Betty worked for many years in the old refinery Department at Perdue. She also helped many at the Christian Shelter in Salisbury, Maryland and was later employed by Dove Pointe, from where she retired for health reasons. Her Christian training was formally received at Enon Baptist Church of Deliverance in Crisfield, MD, under the tutelage of the late Bishop Mary Lane. Before her departure, she was a faithful member of United Church of the First Born in Salisbury, Maryland for many years. She was a former member of the Usher Board, Gospel Choir, and Financial Secretary under Pastor Richard Morris. Betty was an ordained Evangelist, President of the Pastor’s Aid Ministry and a Trustee. She will be remembered by family and friends for her true love for the Lord, always praising Him, and for being the one who always told you like it was, having “No Cut Cards.” If you didn’t want to hear the truth, you didn’t go to her. Betty is survived by: one son, Jeron K. (Yolanda) Mitchell, Sr. of Princess Anne, MD; two daughters, Toya (Lionel) Mitchell-Conway and Monica Byrd (Darryl), both of Salisbury, MD; one sister, Elder Mary (Curtis) Dixon, of Salisbury, MD; one aunt, Emma Lou Morgan of Atlanta, GA; one step-brother, James West, Jr. of Virginia Beach, VA; ten grandchildren, Kevin, Jermichael, Jaren, Kendrice Jeron, Jr. Laron, Timothy and Jarenea Mitchell, Tysha, Elisha and Elijah Bullock; 2 goddaughters, Ashley Conway and Courtney Bivens; eighteen great-grandchildren; three nieces, three nephews, seven great-nieces, seven great-nephews, two great-great nieces, one great-great nephew; several church daughters, family and many friends. “Don’t Let A Day Go By Without Praising The Name Of The Lord.” Lovingly Submitted ~ The Family To send flowers to the family or plant a tree in memory of Betty Ruth Mitchell, please visit our Heartfelt Sympathies Store.
