Betty Banks

Betty Marie Dixon Banks, daughter of the late William Dixon and Francis Jefferson Dixon, was born on July 21, 1935 in Laurel, DE. The angels came for her on Sunday, August 3, 2014 at the Delaware Hospice in Milford, DE. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 60 plus years, Robert James Banks; one son, Robert Allan Banks; all of her aunts and uncles; and one nephew, Craig William Davis of Philadelphia, PA. She received her formal education at William C. Jason Comprehensive School in Georgetown, DE. Betty was employed at HP Cannon and Sons in Bridgeville, DE, until the birth of her last child. Then, she remained at home as a housewife and a loving mother to her children. She and her husband raised five children. They had a great marriage and were devoted to one another, until his death in 2009. Nevertheless, she still remained loyal to her husband, until her death. In 1986, Betty was faced with her first health condition, a stroke. Then as years passed, she continued to be faced with the following problems: colon cancer, breast cancer, heart disease and reoccurrence of cancer that claimed her life. She devoted her life to her family especially her grandkids. She was a member of United Deliverance Bible Center in Laurel, DE, where she enjoyed worshipping God. She leaves to cherish her loving memories her four daughters: Sharon Banks Walters (Mike), Deborah Elder (Willie), Gloria Hill (Shawn) all of Laurel, DE and Terry Minor (Greg) of New Castle, DE; 10 grandchildren: Stuart Banks of Laurel, DE, Keyauna Hopkins of Millsboro, DE, Keshawn Hopkins of Camden, DE, Alexis and Lauren Hill of Laurel, DE, Brandi Deshields (Ronald) of Seaford, DE, Donshawn Smack of Laurel, DE, Devin Banks of NC, and Richard Minor and Thomas Minor, Jr. of New Castle, DE; eight great-grandchildren: Destinee and Tyler Banks of Laurel, DE, Donta Banks, Nanette Griffin of Seaford, DE, Shania Pitts of Florida, Brianna Ratcliff of Delmar, MD, Isaiah Banks of Delran, NJ and the newest addition, K’niya Boynton of Millsboro, DE; one sister-in-law, Rose Banks of Delmar, DE; three sisters, Peggy Davis (Richard) of Philadelphia, PA, Paula Parker (Henry) of Seaford, DE and Babygirl Bonnie Dixon of Wilmington, DE; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, who loved her dearly; also a special friend, Brownie Care Bear.
