Aurelise Pierre

Mrs. Aurelise Pierre, daughter of the late Auguste Pierre and Saintanise Mednard, was born on October 27, 1916 in Aquin, Haiti. She was self-employed as a community merchant, selling handmade items and fruits and vegetables gathered from her family’s farm. Aurelise was a hard worker, spending long days in the sun picking to support her family. She was well-known in her community as a savvy businesswoman. She met her first husband, Stephen Paul in 1938, and they birthed two children, Fidincio Paul and Linda (Paul) Coulanges. Years later, she met her second husband, Villeneuve Laguerre and the two were married on a beautiful day of January 5, 1985. The couple was blessed with six children. Aurelise gave her life to Christ during her marriage to her second husband. She served in the Women’s Auxiliary Ministry of the Church of God in Aquin, Haiti. Aurelise immigrated to the United States in February 2002 and resided with her daughter, Odette and son-in-law, Walter Torchon and children in Salisbury, MD. She attended Word of Life Center and was an active member of the Women’s Ministry, traveling to local churches singing and dancing. She was known for her love for dancing. She continued her pursuit in sales, selling peanut brittle she made herself, to her church family. Aurelise was also a crafty seamstress for her family and friends. As a result of her generous spirit and pleasant personality, she was loved by many. Her Christian life was as beautiful as the flowers that she loved so well, and her influence will forever remain in the lives of all who knew her. Aurelise quietly departed this life Monday, November 2, 2020 at Wicomico Nursing Home in Salisbury, Maryland. She was preceded in death by her husband, Villeneuve Laguerre, sisters Clasina Pierre and Marisile Pierre, and only brother, Mesidieu Pierre. Her beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of her children: Fidencio Paul of Aquin, Haiti, Linda and Mathias Coulanges of Cayenne, French Guiana, Orelus and Irena Laguerre of Aquin Haiti, Gracita Laguerre and Marino Laguerre, who both died in infancy, Odette and Walter Torchon of Salisbury, MD, Bruno Laguerre and his late wife, Camotte Laguerre of Aquin, Haiti, and Marie Fanie and Imanice Paul of Sharon, MA. She is also survived by thirty-four (34) grandchildren, three of whom are deceased, forty-one (41) great-grandchildren, one of whom is deceased, seven great-great-children and a host of devoted nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
