Arthur Lee Hemmeian

Arthur Lee Hemmeian was born on June 23, 1951 to the late Floyd Lee Hemmeian and Marie E. Jones Cropper. On Saturday, September 28, 2019, he peacefully transitioned from earth to glory. After being educated in the public schools of Worcester County, Maryland, Arthur Lee graduated from Pocomoke High School in Pocomoke City, Maryland with the class of 1971. A man of many unique talents and skills, he attended barber school in Salisbury, Maryland, engaged in carpentry work and was employed by John W. Tyler Electrical until retirement. At an early age, Arthur Lee accepted Christ as his personal Lord and Savior and attended Macedonia Baptist Church in Pocomoke City, Maryland under the leadership of Bishop Isaac Jenkins, Sr. In addition to his many hobbies, Arthur Lee enjoyed traveling, going to the beach, riding his bicycle, going to the car races at Dover Downs and spending quality time with family and friends. He was the life of the party and a natural-born entertainer. Whether you knew him as Arthur, Art or Arthur Lee, to know him was to love him. Known for his unique and uncompromising fashion style, Arthur Lee was loved by so many. Precious memories of Arthur Lee’s life will be cherished by: his siblings—Diana Jones of Dover, DE, Larry Hemmeian (Alice) of Delmar, MD, Elwood Hemmeian of Frankford, DE, Donald Hemmeian (Gwen) of Delmar, MD, Alphonso Hemmeian (Cherrae) of Jacksonville, FL, Kenneth Maddox (Deborah) of Sicklerville, NJ and Lovetta Richardson of Greenbelt, MD; aunts and uncles—Cleola Smith, Oscar Cropper, Linwood Cropper, Mayola Matthews, Patsy Cropper, Stanley Cropper, Oliver Brittingham (Louise), Gloria Mason, Essie Mae Dickerson and Olivia Burgan; a longtime special friend, Willis Fontaine, with whom he helped to raise her daughter, Sheri Gardner and her children, Je’Mar, Jasmine and Jeleiah, who called him Pop Pop, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, classmates, other relatives and dear friends. Loved ones who left to clear the path for Arthur are his parents, Floyd Lee Hemmeian and Marie E. Jones Cropper, step-father Samuel Cropper, aunts, Gladys Thomas, Delthia Brittingham, Mary Lee Brittingham, Victoria Cropper, Phyllis Pinkard and Rowena Brittingham and uncle Lawrence Copes.
